...have you seen it?
I was just staring out a window, a cup of hot tea in hand to warm me, looking at how the snow is receding a bit and lo and behold...what do I see?... close to the house several day lily sprouts poking up through the leaf mulch. Holy Mother of Spring--- you're on your way!

Spring???? Is that a new word???? Sounds foreign at the moment.
I have been hearing the cardinal mating calls though.

I might say it's today's rain, but that's been true for the last 12 months!

Hi Tom...Glad you mentioned Candytuft because I had forgotten to pick up a pack of seeds...My Candytuft didn't do as well as usual last year and I want to start some new, just in case... I'm going to try winter sowing some seed...

Candytuft didn't do as well as usual last year and I want to start some new, just in case... The only problem I've had with it is that it's difficult to weed. I use an asparagus cutter to dig the weeds out.

Maybe your drought is over? No, but it is greatly improved. We need 2 or 3 years in a row, of winters like this, for it to be over. It's a relief to have this moisture, however.

Red maple, forsythia, daffodil, dandelion and Bradford pear (ugh --- another one for the list of landscape mistakes) are blooming. Grape, apple, blueberry, fig, and the neighbor's D'Anjou pear buds are swelling. It's still February. I fear the inevitable icy tail of Winter.
