Went poking under the mulches today. I always go looking at this point in winter - just when I'm starting to think winter will never be over. I just saw the first tiny sprouts of my tarragon plant popping out of the soil! Garlic too! And day lilies are about 1/4" up. Gardens are beginning to wake up even if still burrowed under the covers for a while longer. Glory Be!

My daffodils and irises peeking up, chives popping too. Sixteen extra minutes of daylight since solstice, and growing longer. Glory be indeed, and happy me.

Can't say there are any plants showing signs of spring here, but the chickens are starting to lay. Got four eggs today. Not a lot compared to the two dozen a day in summer, but a lot more than two weeks ago, when some days there were none. Could get more eggs if I put a light on in their coop in the early AM, but they need their break.

Not here. There is still a layer of ice/snow over everything.

No peeking and poking around here. Another 4" of snow during the night and more to come.

Another 4" of snow during the night and more to come. Nature is making blankets.

Brussels sprouts still going strong here... made it through the 4" of snow, the 17Β° temps, the 24" of snow, guess I'll refer to them as my first Spring crop.

OK, enjoy the Brussels sprouts. Nothing growing here but ice. Clear blue sky. Beautiful day.

No signs of my Snowdrops yet, but my daffodils have been up 2" since early last month.

It's hard to take a thread about the first signs of spring, when it's posted in February in the northern hemisphere.
Then again, I don't live in Florida or southern Louisiana.
