It got to 106 outside today. We'll get a high temp like that every 3-4 years or so. Thank goodness for the small AC in the small back room. Inside the main part of the house, surfaces were 89 degrees.

gianna, didn’t you have an out of doors shower at one time? I bet your shower water would be toasty. Stay safe.

didn’t you have an out of doors shower at one time? I bet your shower water would be toasty. Yes, I still have the solar hot water set-up (coiled garden and black drip line hoses) and use it fairly frequently, though not as often in winter. I love the thing. Many days when it's full sun, the water that comes out is not toasty, it's scalding. It's hotter than anything my hot water heater cooks up. I should take it's temperature. Maybe tomorrow. Fortunately I've figured out hose connectors to adjust the temp. I can make the hot water cooler to cold, but on cloudy, cool days, I can't make it hot. As for staying safe, the little AC in the back room makes it quite comfy. I've usually done well in the heat, but as I've aged, I do feel it more. And today was hot!

My sister has one of those solar hoses for her pool. It works really well. She has a large yard, so she has 800 feet of hose lying in the sun behind the pool. It's amazing how warm the water gets and she has a solar cover too.
Cool here this morning, 47* and bright sun and blue skies. Only supposed to go into the 60's this weekend but back into the 80's next week.

Yesterday, while it wasn't very warm here - only got to 76° here, but the humidity was disgusting! It was around 78-79%, every time I'd check. After doing a bunch in the kitchen, I finally broke down and turned on the AC, and had to turn it down some, just to get the humidity out of the air. The temperature outside didn't go down a lot overnight, but today the humidity went down a little, and later, around 3 pm, a front came through, with only .05" of rain, but the temp came down to 65°, and later even lower, with only 60% humidity (usually this goes up, when the temp drops!). And eventually, it got below 60°, and it is supposed to get into the lower 50s later. And only 72° for a high tomorrow, with much lower humidity for a couple of days, before the AC will be needed again.

Frost warnings in two adjacent counties but thankfully the low here was 40°. Warnings again tonight and I'm not too worried, but time to start digging out those old sheets I use for frost blankets just in case.

It got down to 53° at some point last night, and is just getting to 65°, close to noon. Humidity is WAY down this morning - humidity 40%, last time I looked, and no clouds at all. No rain forecast in the entire 10 day, and it's getting much warmer after today.

This late sunrise is getting to me, sure messes with early walking! Now having to wait til past 0630 to go, which messes with the rest of my morning, especially if I have to go anywhere.....

This late sunrise is getting to me Early sunset is annoying, too. Was doing outside work between 6:00 and 9:00 Now it starts getting darker at 7:00. Yesterday had to turn on my phone flashlight to find the eggs and gave up looking for greenbeans after picking a few.

The earlier sunset is more of an annoyance to me, too, as the back, where I work on most of the garden, because it would get in the shade later on. The front and side is early shade, and much cooler, but not nearly as much done there!

Our overnight lows have been in the 40s (as low as 42º) for the past 2+ weeks except for one night that reached a whoppin' 50º. That's 40s in August. Just not right. Days have mostly been in the low 80s with a few dips into the 70s. And it has dried right up. No rain for at least 2 weeks, after a wonderful almost daily rainy August. The gardens are definitely looking like Autumn gardens already.

It's only gotten down to around 60° here, the past few days, with fog and dew, with that high dew point, but that has lifted the last few days, with the temperature getting into the mid 80s. Humidity is supposed to be rising, with rain forecast for the mid week, and we really need it!
