Another chilly morning at 41°. As of a report issued today, we are one of 22 WV counties experiencing extreme drought. Forecast not showing rain until later next week.

A little warmer today, but still only got to 77°, and very low humidity, so I won't complain! And the 10 day forecast no longer has any 90+ days on it - 88° is the highest, and just once, so again, I won't complain! Very little rain forecast, and it's already dry out there, as I discovered when mowing my lawn.

We are on a slow cooling trend. Finally. Only got to 87º today. Last night's low was 52. Sunny with clear blue skies and an occasional cumulous cloud.

Morning low was 54*…time for the taste of the tomatoes to change. That's the only taste of tomatoes I will get this year. If I'm lucky. Nights are definitely cooling down here.

Getting warmer around here, but not that warm! However, that stuff might be heading this way, 90° and 95° the next two days, and the humidity is going up with it. Only 84° yesterday, and 87° the forecast high for today. Scattered thunderstorms, due to the humidity, but very scattered, so I'm not turning off the timers.

For the second time this month we had an overnight low in the 40s-not at all an August pattern. Last night's low was 49º And today's high was a comfy 76º- we've definitely crashed from the abnormal (for August) 90s we've been having. Frequent rains too- also abnormal for August- though not a lot in one event, it is adding up. We've gotten a little over 3" in August, bringing our total for the year now at 10 inches, which puts us on track for attaining our normal yearly average of 12.5 inches. Along with these little rains the humidity has jumped up too- pretty regular in the 70% range. Yuck. So sticky.

Heat index here is currently at 113. Shouldn't it be dropping by this point in the early evening? It was at 111 about an hour or so ago.

The HI "only" got to 103° here today, with with a high of 96°, so the humidity wasn't super high - only 44%, and later even lower. Possible rain keeps getting pushed later, but again, I'm not turning off my timers. I only went out to harvest those chives, and much earlier, the okra, out front, but I'd rather work when it's cooler out there!

Thundering now after an "air conditioner" day. Only used it 4 times this summer. Hope this means I won't have to dig out the sprinkler tomorrow and that my pea and bush bean seeds will sprout on time for the fall garden.

97° here today with heat index over 100. Mother-in-law, who lives five miles away, reported a heavy 30 minute rain. We got a few sprinkles. Beginning to wonder if we're under some sort of dome.

80º high today with last night's low at 49º. Currently raining, with thunder and lightening. So far .13 inch. We've been getting these late night shower bursts. Just read a prediction for the Fall (Sept-Nov) temperature outlook. The map shows almost the entire country in hotter the normal, with just the coastal California and parts of Oregon, Washington and a tip of Idaho/ Montana at normal temps www.cnn.com/2024/08/28/weather/fall-forecast-heat-hurricane-climate/index.html

None of that rain overnight, that they predicted, though the rain dropped almost 20°, as predicted. 76° when I went out around 8:30 am, and it's not supposed to get much hotter, though the humidity still isn't going down. At least there will be some wind - supposed to be 20 to 30 mph much of the day.
