these are some beautiful pics to whet yr desire for Spring. [from UK] Perhaps you also have signs of Spring in yr area. Where I am, we still have snow on ground. Maybe next week. Sigh. I had seen some daffs push their heads up, but now they are under 8 inches of snow. I also saw a Pussywillow on my walk around the neighborhood, with buds, a couple of weeks ago, but I can't find it. Yesterday tried to get to my community garden. I've got tons of kitchen waste to add to compost. But nope--- no way in. I shall try again today. www.bbc.co.uk/events/e83bp6/live/cnwmxj

Heard Chipping Sparrows this morning, so they've arrived back early as well. Normally we don't see/hear them around here until some time next month (April). Any day now I expect to hear Woodcocks.

I also heard birds this morning, but either I was still partially asleep or it's been so long since I've heard birds that I couldn't tell what kind they were! It's been a loooooong winter!

When the mesquite trees leaf out, it's Spring.

A few more signs today: both a Honeybee & a Paper Wasp in the house, & our resident Groundhog ("Fat Bastard, Jr.") out & about in the backyard.

I never really paid attention before but I noticed two mourning doves at my feeder today. They haven't been around all winter so they must go somewhere away from here during these cold months.

My Lady Banks Thornless yellow roses are starting to bloom! The weeds are going nuts. I picked some parsley today that was volunteers that I'm going to pull out but they were about 8" tall! I got to hang out 3 loads of laundry before our humidity came up...jeans & towels!

Dirt under my finger nails
(and when I poke under the mulch to find the first day lilies poking out of the ground)

Hubby sitting on the deck reading while the burgers are grilling. Spring can't be far away. We are really going to be moaning and complaining if Mother Nature isn't done with this winter thing.
