Sauna like today. Very wet overnight and all morning. Then the sun came out and really heated things up after noon.

Rained most of the day yesterday but not the heavy thunderstorms they were predicting. So far today the sun is out but it's really humid. Going to be one of those hot steamy late summer days.

Predicted severe thunderstorm for last evening did not materialize, but the rain that came through on Wednesday night left behind 1.4” of rain. The turf is a bit squishy.
No watering required today.

A few days ago, my area was hit with what was described as a 'wet microburst'...80mph winds along with some heavy rain. A few trees blown down as well as many broken branches. Our home missed most of the damage but a few buildings around town had their roof torn off and stormwater drains were overwhelmed. The picture below was taken by someone who was at the reservoir, about 15 miles west of the city. And this came after a tornado tore up about 20 acres of trees outside of Cripple Creek, which sits at almost 9500 feet in elevation. As Bob Dylan might sing, "The Weather They Are a-Changin".

Glad to hear that you were spared the worst, pondgardener ! Hearing about crazy weather like that makes me consider myself lucky to only loose a few plants, or something like that, when those storms come through. The weather here has been relatively low humidity, and slightly low temperatures, for the last week, though with the cool nights, the humidity would still be so high that there would be dew on everything, and it would take a while to dry off, since it wasn't heating up so much! Today it was close to 90° for the first time in over a week, but it was breezy, so it was bearable, and much better than those very humid days last week. Next few days are supposed to get more humid, with possible thunderstorms, but those have missed me before, so again, I'm not turning my timers off, until it's happening! That's when I go into my basement, and turn the valve, to shut it off to all 3 timers outside.

So after our surprise 47º low , 2 nights ago, it is back to the low 90s with overnight lows in the upper 50s. I'm sounding like a broken record but this growing season's weather has been weird weird weird.

Severe thunderstorms that were predicted for yesterday fizzled out to 20 minutes of light rain and one clap of thunder.

It started raining shortly after 9 am, but I don't know how long it is going to last, and it's not heavy, yet. Just heavy enough to rise the humidity more, and it was already 85%, at 75°, when I got up, at about 8:20. Heavier rain supposed to come tomorrow.

Another scorcher today. High was 93º. It's predicted to continue to be in the 90s/days and 60s/nights for the next several days with a break in this heat wave around the end of this coming week. This is a real anomaly- we never get 90 degree days in August.

desertwoman, 102˚ F here yesterday, which set a daily record and today is looking to be at least a 100˚. Having to water every couple of days is getting tiring. And no rain in sight.

It was disgustingly humid again today, and it got into the high 80s, so the HI was in the 90s again, and there was no wind until around 3 pm, when I was finishing up, and I figured it was going to start raining, since it was getting darker, too. About 2 hours later now, and still no rain, but I hear thunder out there now, and now there is rain, with sunshine! The radar shows more coming and going for a while now.

Another day of rain forecasted and other than a few sprinkles, we received nada. Only watering the beans and flowers right now. The lake near where I grew up was 10' below winter pool last week. It's definitely been a year for the records.

Well we have had RAIN…strong storms, winds and more than 8” of rain in less than 5 hours. Roads eroded, people rescued from restaurants that flash flooded thru second floor evacuation by fire rescue, campers stranded when bridge washout turned state campground into an island. Crazy amounts of water! Two people swept away after trying to drive thru flooded roadway. on the positive? Our street was re-paved in the early ‘90’s and drainage was deleted from plans to save $ after approval 🤦🏻♀️causing our driveway to become the drainage. Now..Well THIS new revision spanning 3 weeks seems to have been effective! 6” +++ and no flooded driveway or water in the basement.

Whoa claude, and fantastico on the drainage- another example of how cutting corners usually costs more in the long run.
