Supposed to be the last day of this horrible heat - high 90s and 106-107° heat index. Starting tomorrow, at 89°, every day is in the 80s, but I'll believe it when I see it!

pepperhead212, choose your chores wisely, doing only what really needs done. Being a gardener, you already know that.

Believe me, binnylou, I watch what I do in the heat! Got to 98° today, with 106° heat index, which kept me in most of the day. I just had a very brief sunshower, with a loud crack of thunder, after it had gotten very dark, but there was no rain until it was bright out - like Florida! Only got .01", and probably won't have any more. Crazy weather! And now they are back to predicting the next two days in the 90s again. Like I said, I'll believe the cooling off when it happens!

Earschplittenloudenboomers. Had some of those today. Shook the ground. 2-and-a-half inches so far, possibly as much again tomorrow.

We are in an official drought advisory today, it has been so short on rain here for the last several months. That, along with the heat waves has dried things out considerably. It was up to 93° today, and even at 10:30 pm is is still at 87°, and high humidity. One more day in the 90s, then going down...supposedly.

We are in an official drought advisory today Don't know if it is an official drought here, but I usually water twice a season and now am deep watering every week here and may have to water even more often. Seen a few thunderstorms, but they seem to skirt around us or give a light sprinkle. At least it has started to get in the 60s at night. Actually turned off the room air conditioners tonight.

And here it is opposite of drought. This is the best my veggie garden has looked in years! all that nitrogen, oxygen and the acidity in the rain water makes a huge difference. I had forgotten, it's been so long since we have had rains like this.

Woke up this morning to a nice steady rain. Not a thunderstorm, light to moderate, but the key word is steady, as if the sprinkler was on. Chickens are in their coop, peering out the door. Just saw a mockingbird out there, lifting its wings, shifting from one foot to the other doing a wiggle dance in the shower.

One of those rains finally hit here this morning. 1.48", while the heaviest we've had in a long time, hasn't come close to the deficit. Still very humid at 11 am, but it's supposed to get better.

The famous "cool air from Canada" has arrived early this year. Came in from the porch early because it was too cool out. Supposed to last at least a week.
