Windows open and it’s great to wake up to 60 degrees outside with a high of 80 predicted.

Late afternoon/overnight rainfall only amounted to a 1/4 inch, but it’s a start. Asparagus fernery has succumbed to the weight of raindrops, looking like mounds of snow in the shadowed garden area. The sunshine passing through the white pine looks like a million tiny lights. Makes me thinks the plants are a bit happier. Everybody has been so thirsty.

Windows open and it’s great to wake up to 60 degrees outside with a high of 80 predicted. Heat pump and air handler turned off at the circuit breaker. That'll drop the electric bill. I've found that leaving them on but turning the thermostat off doesn't have nearly the same effect. The trickle currents they require when idle are noticeable, although I've never measured them.

We have been lucky today with most of the bad thunderstorms passing us by. The worst of it went south of us with quarter-sized hail and rain at 5" per hour.

Wow martywny, I cant even imagine what it is like to experience 5 inches of rain in one hour , let alone more than one hour.

I cant even imagine what it is like to experience 5 inches of rain in one hour , let alone more than one hour. The worst I have ever been in was during my last summer in Oxford, MS when it rained 13" in four hours. I can't imagine 5" in an hour either!

It's been raining for the past 2.5 hours. Hadn't had rain for the past week or so and was missing it. Will read the rain gauge in the morning.

Cloudy all day, but no rain. Then tonight had a good shower that lasted a while. No watering this week. Yay!

A suggestion of rain tonight and tomorrow. Lately, these "suggestions" don't pan out!

We got another half inch last night for a total of 11.3 inches since June. That's almost to our yearly average of 12-13 inches. We haven't reached that amount in several years, let alone in just 2 months!
A neighbor just told me that this rain pattern is expected to continue into October. Unheard of!

We're getting back to hot and humid. There was still dew on the grass at noon, and it's supposed to get up to 90° later. More humid next two days, with some possibilities for rain, but I'm not holding my breath.
