Cukes are just starting to perk up, and by perk up I mean 3 inches tall. I hope I get a cucumber by September. Mine are REALLY slow this year.

That is a big swing in temps! Poor plants don’t know what to do.

53 degrees, cloudy and calm here at noon. Late June you would expect some growing weather, but have not seen much yet!

Some mean weather blowing thru right now. Lots of thunder, wind and rain. Sky is really dark. Glad I made it home from work before it hit.

How did your tomatoes/summer crops hold up? Not so well. I planted a half dozen cucumbers and that number was cut in half yesterday. The wind (60 mph preceding the cold front) apparently got them whipping around so badly that the stems just broke off at ground level. My tomatoes look like someone tried to beat them to death with a rake. Melons are about a third the size of what they would normally be this time of year. Between all the wind and cold it’s been a crappy growing season so far, but then it’s always something around here. Usually around the first week of July, Curly Top starts showing its ugly face, so that will be next on the docket.

76 right now at 0430. Walking at 6 with a friend. I really like going at 0530 before the sun comes up. Wind predicted for today so I plan to get the yard mowed.
Last night we were finally able to go out and sit on the deck around 6, a slight breeze and shade.

53 degrees, calm, rain. I will not be planting today. I don't grow inside because I don't have a good place to do it.
