Yes, Please keep up the pics and the commentary coming. I'm very interested in seeing the results from all of the participants.
I have Moreton seed that I've had from a private source for about 10 years. It is a staple tomato in our household no matter what others I grow from year to year. Perhaps in 2017, I will see if they have Moreton's seed available. I too would be interested in growing out the two variations to see what (if any) differences there are between the Then and the Now.

Well my pic of the 250 plant was not worth posting but look at how beautiful their flowers are. they seem to have more petals than others. I am also growing the "other" resurrected Jersey tomato, Ramapo and it is about twice as bushy as the Rutgers 250.

Thanks for adding a pic! brownrexx. lilolpeapicker, How are yours doing? @bluelacedredhead, I'd like a pic of the Moreton when you get a minute. Way too cool...........All this is interesting and needs to be documented. When people google..........they find us when searching for tomatos and stuff...........then we hear from them and learn more!

Lisaann, I will try to remember to get a pic. They aren't here; they are at our Community garden plot. I should be going over there on Friday.

Moreton tomato. Sorry it's not closer. The sprinkler at the community garden was coming my way so I was rushing before it got me, my phone and the plant soaked! Save

Lisaann, We have 15 tomato plants, but not all Moretons. And garlic and one volunteer lettuce as well as a volunteer nasturtium and some Calendula in the centre of the plot.
I haven't staked or caged the smaller plants because apparently I can't count ;) We took over stakes last week and tied up all of the indeterminates. I think I must have been counting those and not worrying about the little guys. But this one wants to fall over. So next time, I will take some cages. I have a few that I had put around pepper plants here at home, to keep the starlings from ripping the plants out of the ground. There are large enough now that the birds won't bother them.
There are approximately 30 plots. Some are rented (like ours). Others are strictly to produce food for the local food banks and we all share in the work on those plots. Size? I'd say 70 or 80 sf depending on shape of the plot. It's the first year we've had one there.

And it's your FIRST year there...........and let me guess...........YOU are showing them how to get it done? Thank goodness! You strike me as a woman that can step in and LEAD the way! You have me SMILING here!

Thanks Lisaann. It's not my first year gardening of course. Just planning for a future that may not have gardening space if we move to a smaller home or an apartment. This year, it was mostly overflow plants.
And of course, it's an opportunity to meet new people, both gardeners and park goers as well.

Just planning for a future that may not have gardening space if we move to a smaller home or an apartment. T Well, that makes me sad.................I hate when people have to move from the place they know and love...........Well, you seem to be able to do stuff like that............I, on the other hand resent change. I love my RUT! I intend to stay in this RUT! Oh.........A RUT is a place you make for yourself and can't get out of............. Like a car that keeps moving forward and backward in the mud. It makes a RUT, and you can't get out of it. They are stuck there..........then the levee breaks and they drown in that said RUT!

So, lisaann, you say your brains are in a rut? ;) (sorry...I think of that song every time I see the word rut).

They have cages. I don't do well just staking. Sometimes I have to do both, esp with the Black Krim.
