This is the 7th day in a row it has rained. We have had about 3 days with "holes" in the rain where we could run out and do something. DH managed to get about 90% of the yard mowed yesterday and I got some things planted. But it rained early yesterday morning and then it started again about 3-4pm!
I planted 3 dogwood trees, 1 hickory tree, moved one redbud tree and hope it does well in it's new spot, got 2 hyacinth bean vines planted since they were already vining about 2' and potted up some things I had started in my garden house! Those pots are now on the front porch!
We have already had 2 gully washers today. I'm hoping the worst is over for the day!

It's either feast or famine isn't it?

I can't imagine 7 days straight of rain. It's beyond my comprehension.
Do people get depressed after all those days of grey?

That's how we were during the winter with the snow and thinking it would never end!

I hear you, gakaren! I've learned from past droughts to at least try not to complain about excessive rain, but we're about to float away. Enough indeed! Folks in the parched western states, please forgive us for these sentiments. I sure do wish we could send some your way.

Meanwhile, Lat is trying to master various Native America rain dances. His neighbors seem amused...

Plenty of rain here right now too, but not to the point of wishing it to stop. I was hoping for a good soaker since I planted all early crops.

It really does depend on your perspective. I am with Dessert Woman - 7 days of rain, wow. Several years ago we were in such a severe drought, that we sold cattle, and then sold again and were looking at selling again, when it broke. Very frightening.
Last year we had such a lush year, but I don't think I have ever seen 7 days of rain... are you building an ark?

gakaren - I hope you don't get what we did in 2003, when the farmer's crops and my tomatoes rotted from all that rain we had in the spring. We broke the annual rainfall record a couple years ago, but that was more in the summer, which was good for most crops, except that day we got 7+ inches of rain! There was a stretch of 23 days of rain - I remember because I was out delivering mail in it, and I would come home, go out in my garden totally soaked, and do what I had to, before drying off! Amazing what we do when obsessed!
I don't remember how many days in a row we had when the crops rotted, just that it was early in the season, and the sight of the 1-2 ft tall corn stalks, and many other things, rotting in the farmer's fields. I felt so bad for them, as this was their livelihood, whereas it's just my tomatoes!

sigh....just started raining again, I thought we would make it through one day dry, but nope. I don't think my cabbages are going to make it, but so far, everything else seems to be doing okay with the moisture. Got a bumper crop of mosquitoes and mud!!

Well on the plus side with all this rain is that we don't have to water and the seeds have plenty of moisture to germinate. That is as long as they don't drown. Those trees should do well too as long as they don't sit in water too long. My peas are loving the weather. They probably think they have jumped the pond. I was out yesterday weeding in the rain. There were two and possibly three neighbors that might have been able to see me on that side of the house. Probably shaking their heads.

I just got 3 1/2" of rain last night, with more to come tonight! I was lucky, though, as the rain stopped the whole time I was out there today.
