Planted the peas yesterday. Also broke the water faucet off the wall (posted about that in Chicken Chat). Glad to see they were watered by the rain today.

We got just under 2 inches of rain since last night. SEVERE thunderstorms were all around us this evening and tornado warnings about taking shelter kept popping up on TV and our phones. It was kind of scary but the storms seemed to have missed us. The tornado watch ended 15 minutes ago although I still see occasional flashes of lightening in the distance.
I feel lucky tonight!

I don't think I got any rain with the evening storms. I heard thunder, but only in the distance.

I haven't been back to this thread cause we had to go out of town for DH a VA appointment....3 hrs. away.
It rained again Mon. morning before we left. I had to wait for it to clear so I could fill my bird feeders, they weren't finding any food any place else it seems!
We are "supposed" to have 4 days of no rain & then it starts again! We only got a total of about 3 1/2" last week, but it was just that it kept raining lightly enough that you couldn't do anything outside except sit & watch it!
We have had a pretty wet spring for us....and yes, I remember our drought...6-7 yrs. and got to the point of extreme! All the farm ponds that they use for irrigation were dry, rivers were down to a slight trickle, creeks dried up and many people had to lower their wells.

I wouldn't mind if you sent some of that rain this way. It has been warm and dry here for some time now. I just put some seeds in and a shower would be great.

In the past month we have probably hd five days of sunshine. It has rained more than I can remember. Yesterday afternoon we had rain AND hail. The rain gage over flowed in one hour. We got water in one the back porch because it couldn't drain out of the back yard fast enough.
On the other hand it has been great for the garden. Everything is green and lush.
We never complain about rain in Texas, but I am growing a bit weary of it though.

James, I would love to share the rain...send a bunch of it out west!
We are at it again today. The forecast was for it to arrive around noon! It was pouring at 9 am! ??? I had wanted to finish some trimming I started yesterday, but I guess not!
We did have 3 nice days with mostly sun, but....... At least the replacement corn I planted should sprout now. Those pre-sprouted ones never came up...I'm pretty sure they just rotted away with all our rain. I didn't see any sign of them when I replanted!

My Texas Sister had not seen the sun for 10 days..then pt cloudy and more rainy days..she told me that everyone was getting depressed because they had not felt sun on their skin in so many days. She was worried about things rotting...trees blowing over..and fungal disease..

Here are photos of how things look in California right now. Actually, these picture are from a year ago, things haven't improved. Dept. of Water runs a snow survey every month winter into Spring, always on the news showing the guys skiing out into a meadow up near Lake Tahoe to poke a measuring tube into the snow. Usually multiple feet of snow even late in April. This year they didn't bother to make the trip: no snow on the ground. Dry!
