It's been over twenty-five years since I last attempted geraniums from seed. Is it normal to see sprouts 24 hours after planting? Didn't want to disturb the soil too much, but it sure does look like a sprout.

Is it normal to see sprouts 24 hours after planting? I've never seen that. Could your potting soil have weed seeds in it? Weeds seem to sprout the fastest.

gardendmpls, definitely sprouts. Two 24 hours later and eight when I watered them last evening. Seeds were purchased from Pinetree.

Finally, after several weeks, the Caladium are poking their heads up!

my father in law planted some caladiums for me, my Mil and sister in law. Their pots sprouted and grew but I had a dirt pot 6 weeks later...dug them up and the bulb was planted up side down and had grown completely around Ina circle going for the light.

Coleus are sprouting. Started some seeds of Baby's Breath and Flamingo Celosia yesterday. And some Cardinal Basil, which has a flower head at the top and it says they can be used for flower cuttings. Interesting.

Impatiens are popping up and geraniums are getting their first true leaves. Have one white dandelion seedling that is dwarfing the others.

Both purple and white petunias are blooming under the gro lights. It’s nice to see some color.
Blue salvia seed was scattered on top of the grow mix, so I had a mass of tangled roots when I up potted them . I just ripped them in to 12 clumps and stuck them in to individual pots. They’ll be fine.
Snapdragons are so so. Some got shocky from being transplanted…but I’ll still have plenty to get the color in the garden.
Tomorrow is seed starting for marigolds, zinnias, nasturtiums. I promised myself I’d wait until 4/1 to start those annuals.

Those geraniums will need separated and potted soon. I can already see the reddish tint on some of the leaves that indicate that they're not white. Looking forward to, and hoping for a good mix of colors.
