At 4:30am, with a temperature of 31 degrees, I’m on my third trip outside with Ruby to go potty only to figure out that she wants to investigate the yard and chase a barn cat that magically appears on the patio just about every time we go outside. What did I get myself into?

At 4:30am, with a temperature of 31 degrees Wow - you & Mr. Breezy were kindred spirits. He too was outside at 4:30 a.m. in 30-degree temps with Eva, although she did have to "do" something & was happy to get back inside & into a warm bed. No playing around outside that early for her - lol!

What did I get myself into? Nothing out of the ordinary, you are just being trained, enjoy the experience.

martywny, Mumsey, Manipulated?? Trained?? Yesterday was a trip to the vet for Ruby and to pay the bill for Tuesday’s follow up visit for the pony. Today I need to pickup food for the barn cats, clean horse stalls and outside pens with the tractor and then if there’s time the chicken house could use some attention. Indentured maybe?? 😂

So Ruby has called central Illinois home for just about a month. She’s really settled in well, ringing the bells on the door when she needs to go out, welcoming all visitors and adhering to to the word “no” when her curiosity gets the best of her.

We took Ruby to the vet yesterday for a couple more needed puppy shots, while there she stepped on the scale only to find out that she has gained 4lbs since her last visit a month ago. Must be the holidays…… 😂

With the holiday yesterday we had the two boys, 6 and 3 years old, invade Ruby’s domain Sunday night as their mom works on Mondays. As the cold temperatures negated any chance of outside activities, and the addition of two neighbor kids in the afternoon, Ruby found refuge behind my chair…..

Smart doggie. Sometimes I want to seek refuge behind a chair!

want to seek refuge behind a chair! Jesse does that too but I realized that the spots she chooses as there only 2 are the coolest places in the house and are located along an outside wall.

Princess has been spending lots of time on the couch, all cozy and warm. She has given up asking to walk in this weather!

5am and in the dark, with a temperature of 8 degrees, on my first potty trip outside with Ruby and she is thrilled with the 3 inches of light powdery snow that now covers the ground. I’m thinking did you forget why we are out here…… 😂

Yesterday we had Ruby outside, with her collar on that goes with the buried electric fence, while we were talking to the farrier outside the boundary. She responded to the warning beeps and backed up and waited till we crossed to come to us. This thing might actually work……

I've lost count of how many dogs around here & back in NY just blow through it.
