In the last few days I've been preparing myself to the fact that Daisy wasn't going to make it to winter. Her appetite had decreased, I was carrying her back on long walks and just this morning I made a ramp onto the porch because she was having trouble with steps. She'd been a bit of a lost soul since Brownie died a few months ago and was my constant companion. Just this morning I put down an extra piece of cardboard for her to sleep on while I spread mulch on the garden paths as she wanted to be near me. About an hour ago I helped her navigate the ramp onto the porch and she went into her outside house. About 30 minutes later hubby came in and said she was in yard and not moving. I thought we had a few more weeks but taking comfort in the fact that she now rests beside of Brownie and has one of mommy's t-shirts for comfort. I'm glad she didn't suffer much and glad she is reunited with her best friend. Rest in piece my sweet girl and thank you for sixteen years of love.

I am SO sorry to hear about this & can completely empathize. Our property is dotted with all the graves of our various animal companions over the years - most of them graced with shrubs or trees.

This past summer Josie didn’t fare well when darting across the street and sadly we had to have her put down. After a lot of soul searching we finally decided to get another four legged companion. Sweetheart has spent a lot of time looking and we made a trip to Auther IL Saturday and returned home with our new four legged princess. Meet Ruby, a 10 week old Bernadoodle who is quickly filling the hole in our hearts.

Fair winds furry friends. My dear Hazel is aging right along with your kids. Not sure what I will do when it's her time.
