Eastern Iowa is now back to drought status. Ugh.

We got some rain last night. I don't think it was very much. I haven't been out yet to check the rain gauge. Hot today and tomorrow, then cooling into the 70's next week. Gotta admit, I'm going to miss the 80's.

We had a chance (30-40%) of showers last night and today. But this morning, there are at best only a few wispy clouds, and still air. Dry as a bone out there, but temps are very nice. Average this week is near the low 70s. Our falls are often lovely weather-wise.

We had warnings for wind, hail, and possible tornadoes for overnight. What we got was 9/10” of rain. I never heard the sound of hail, but did have lots of “heat lightening “ as the first round passed us by. Rain is most appreciated. The two raised beds with cover crop seeded settled in nicely.
Should be a good day to finish pulling weeds. Do we ever get done??

Well whatever rain we got,it wasn't much. The deck was wet. Rain gauge was wet, that's about it.

Another chance of rain tonight through Monday. Thursday we got pretty much nothing. I'll be watering the broccoli this morning anyway.

No rain again this week. Think that is 4 dry weeks. Predicted for Wednesday, but was also predicted for the past several weeks with no results. Will drag out the sprinkler today.

We had a bake sale yesterday and packed up early because a storm was coming. It hit as we were loading up and I have to say the 20-mile trip back home was 40 mph tops all the way. Checked the gauge when I got home and we got 7/16". Rained again last night and the total raised to 15/16".

Cooler today, not getting out of the 70s, and cooler in the next week, with at least one day staying in the 60s. And humidity finally going down, at least for a few days. And I'll believe any of those "rainfall chances" they keep talking about when they happen.

The thunderstorms that were supposed to happen last night, didn't. Around 9am this morning it finally started raining. Came down pretty hard while I was driving to Aldi. Stopped now but at least my car got rinsed off. It was pretty dusty. Cooler for sure. Only 66 now, 92 yesterday.

We got 3/8" from all the song and dance the weather man did last night. Glad I watered the broccoli.
