Definitely a Fall day. Cool, crisp high of 68º with intermittent clouds and last night's low of 43º. An extra blanket has been added to the bed.

Rain, rain, & more rain. In fact, rain pretty much all day every day for the next ten days. Time to break out some ark plans?

The first nighttime low in the 30s last night. It was 38º. High today was 72º Predicting a warming trend working back to the low 80s/days and nights in the low 50s by the end of the week. So far, basil, tomatoes and chiles look good from this dip. Fingers crossed.

For those in the path of or fringe area of Helene, stay safe. Check in when you can. shadetree hasn't visited since the last storm. I hope all is well. During a phone visit with gardening brother, he told me that his two grandsons were on their way to Florida to be part of the power supply repair effort. The power company had the trucks packed and ready with each fellow taking a truck. The younger one was in Minnesota (?) a few weeks ago for power repairs. He loves the money.

Well, it finally came! I was going to go outside, around 2:30 - when it's usually totally shady in the back - and it was very dark, so I looked out, and it was raining - HARD! At 3:00 it had rained .15", but was letting up a lot, but at least something came! This was the most I've gotten this month - total was well under a half inch, so far, which is why that ground was so hard. Maybe I'll get a little more from the edge of Helene. I hope everyone here in the south is spared the brunt of it!

Gave up and watered the garden all day Sunday. Moved the hose twice as, although the garden is large, the whole thing can be covered using three different places for the impulse sprinkler. Left it on for 4+ hours in each place. All the veggies and flowers are still looking good today. After grey skies Tuesday and today, I finally felt a sprinkling of rain this evening. Hoping some of pepperhead's rain makes it over here, but not waiting with an open umbrella. Haven't put the sprinkler away just yet.

Well, they were right yesterday, when they said that it would be more humid today! At 10:30 am, it was 72°, and the humidity was up to 95%. No more rain overnight, just dew, maybe fog, much earlier. 81° is the forecast high today, but back down after that, staying humid, and maybe some rain, but that changes every time I see it.

Bone dry here. And the dust from fields is horrendous. Farmers are saving $$ this year since the crops are pretty dry when harvested., so little need to use grain dryers. I'll be going out to water broccoli again shortly and the garlic bed.

Let's just say that I haven't been getting a huge benefit from the solar panels lately.
One local forecast:
Today: Showers then some storms. Tonight: Storms and downpours possible. Tomorrow: Morning shower? Sunnier. Sunday: Fairly cloudy, showers.
