The nasty weather didn’t materialize in our area. I think SE Iowa got the big hail. Guess I’d better water some things.

We didn’t get the predicted nasty weather that was forecasted, no big winds or hail, only 4 tenths of an inch of rain.

We were supposed to get bad weather yesterday, then it went south to you centralilrookie, and I guess that fizzled out too.

The temp dropped from 92° to 65° in a short period, and I'm having a sunshower now, though there was little rain - only .01" so far, and radar shows little more to come. Very heavy wind, but it has already gotten lighter. Hopefully, no damage.

It’s a beautiful 60 degrees this morning going up to 86 this afternoon, but predictions for the next couple of days are in the 90’s.

Wow- we dropped to 44º as last night's low - it's mid June, for goodness sake. Climbed up to 85º today, with clear blue skies. The 80s are as high as I prefer for a summer day

Another scorcher at 91º. Last night was back to the low 50s.

One more night I opened up, and the humidity as well as the heat was way down. I'll get up early again, and close up, before the temp goes up, and set the ac to come on when the heat creeps up again. Supposed to be the first of several days in a row in the 90s.

It only got up to 87º today. Hot enough. More clear blue skies with humidity at 17%. Last night's low was 52º/13% humidity.

I think that it didn't reach 90° here today, as originally forecast, but only 87 or 88° - in the later afternoon, when it is usually hottest, the front thermometer was at 91°, but that was when the sun is on that side, so it's usually several degrees warmer, like the one in back is in the morning. The humidity was a little higher, but it was windy, so bearable when I was out there.

It's been a struggle here in chicago. My local wunderground station registering high 90's and one day at 101. Have lost most of the salad greens, trying to keep everything else watered and hope for some harvest of other things..... Any have a good source for long range forecasting? Wondering if I should start some more greens or if it is a lost cause for the next month or two! I need lettuces to go with my **hopefully** bountiful cuke and tom harvests in a few weeks

Despite living in a semi-rural area where the temperatures are always lower than forecast (mo' greenery, less pavement and buildings), I'm about to break out the shade cloth for my greens. I bought it a few years ago from shadeclothstore.com. I opted for white (more reflective, absorbs less heat), and I run it over the same low hoops that I use in winter when growing lettuce and spinach, attaching the cloth with good old fashioned wooden clothes pins. I got the 50% version, to let in some light. I leave the ends or part of one side up to allow for some air circulation. I'm not trying to close them off like I do in the winter with different fabrics (Agribon and Tuflite) I use for growing the lettuce and spinach. This looks like the version I bought, but they have many others - fabrics, colors, sizes, reflectivity, etc. It's not a cure, but it is a mitigator.
YMMV and all that.
