Today was one of the worst days yet! 103° heat index, and little breeze - the day the HI was 105° was at least windy! Still, I did quite a bit out there today, in between breaks.

This thing that's raining on us is rotating like a tropical storm. Still raining.
But, despite earlier plagues and pestilence, there are NO mosquitos. Which is a good thing.

We have a flood advisory in place , here in the village, until about 6PM with heavy thunderstorms. It's thundering and lightening right now but no rain yet. When we get these heavy rains we can get flooded in, as part of the road washes out with inches of mud. Crews have to remove it with back hoes, etc before we can drive anywhere!

It rained continuously ALL day long and just stopped a few min ago. At least another 2.5-3 inches. 90% tomorrow. Creek behind the house is flowing. I guess I need to invest in a good slicker suit and rubber boots because it's not going to stop through next week. desertwoman, in West Texas they have those kind of flash floods that carve out the roads. I remember visitingTexas during a drought..a sister had rented a room at the shoreline of a freshwater lake which had completely evaporated. Then there are rains w water covering these roads and people driving through roadblocks not realizing the danger. Texas is a state of extremes weather wise. Snow , ice freezes In The winter..they are living it...but global warming is a hoax 🤷🏻♀️ Here in CT we have highs in the hundreds for weeks or more when as a kid we might have had 7 days the entire summer. 5” of rain followed by another 5”..unheard of.

I got 1.8" from Elsa overnight. It added up to about 2" with the earlier storms, which were spotty.

Overnight/morning rain left 85/100. Possibly more on the way. The garden could use a good soaking. Can’t get that with the garden hose.

Well, I feel like I'm in the Forest Gump movie.
And then one day, just like that, for no particular reason, the rain stopped!
The sun is actually trying to burn through the remnants of the clouds. We lost one big oak tree but it was over in the lots across the road. Had to be at least a 100 year old tree. Saturated sandy soil. It just gave up and fell over. I'll have BBQ wood for the rest of my life. I may try to mill some of it but it will take years to dry.
Maybe a few days of normalcy...

Happy dance! It’s been raining steady for an hour and heavy at times. Bring it on! This is the weekend for our town summer festival. Oh well. We need the rain worse than a party.

The Live Oak that fell. Oh, and it didn't make a sound. At least not that I heard.... The neighbor stopped and said, "you win"... I said, "Huh?". He replied, "you have he biggest tree down in the neighborhood..." I'm not sure that makes me the winner.... Alan

I'm going to trim it up some and see if it lives. The ground is so soft it may not have hurt the root system too much.

armjr, The good news is there's lots of good lumber there, and oak to boot! Still sad to lose such a beautiful tree.
