Today caterpillar has attached an adjoining leaf to the one it was on, curling the leaf closer to itself sort of...Not completely closed...I can still see the head... Did not see any movement today as I did yesterday but I didn't stay there long to watch...And I didn't want to disturb it by handling the leaf... I put a marker so I can find it again... Marty Stouffer's Wild America in my own backyard...

I haven't seen as many caterpillars this year. Usually my parsley has a bunch of them, but hardly any this year. Earlier, I saw some black swallowtail caterpillars on my dill, but that was it. I have more dill, as well as the parsley out there, but don't see any yet.

Found these 2, I'm trying not to disturb that Garden Spider. She is sitting in the center of her web everyday. Looks like she never moves! It is a she, the males look nothing like this. She is in the cukes so I have to be really careful not to destroy her web. The other guy I think is a Green Darner dragonfly. He's about 3.5" long with same for wingspan. The wings are so papery thin you can hardly see them. Looks like an eye on top of his head. He was in the tomatoes.

I used to have those garden spiders, but I haven't seen one in a few years now that I'm thinking about. I almost stepped on a black Garter snake today though.

This didn't just happen, but recently, outside, on a bunch of occasions, I had been hearing this loud sound coming from somewhere within the block... It sounded kind of like a large bird loudly squawking "AWK...AWK...AWK..."..... Sometimes if would be 3 squawks, sometimes 4 or 5, never deviated from any squawking rhythm, then it would stop... I had wondered if somebody might have a big pet bird at first but then the sound occurred other times in different locations...
I felt pretty much idiotic when I finally realized it was the Amazon delivery truck's reverse gear alarm...

DS and I have heard a squawking "AWK" thing going on in our wooded area next to the house for the last couple of summers. No traffic. Not a pileated woodpecker, goose, or heron cluck. We're mystified and very curious.

Yep, if that truck backs over you, you've got to be hard of hearing. Sitting on the porch when I first heard it, so saw what it was. Reminds me: If when you were a kid you loved ringing the neighbor's bell and then running away before he got to the door, UPS is hiring.

ahntjudy, our neighbor has a peacock…the noise it makes could be described as “AWK…AWK…AWK”. I usually hear it late afternoon/early evening.

peacock…the noise it makes Peacocks sound to me like women screaming HELP! Have to remember not to call 911 when you hear them.

gardendmpls, And we thought our UPS guy was the only one running. Apparently they all do??? Those guys move! But not so fast when bringing a 35 lb bag of dog food to the door.

We just had a whellchair delivered and luckily my son saw it and dragged it in. That thing was heavy (although surprisingly I can get it into the car fairly easily). The box had been ripped and poked full of holes, so I took pictures, expecting damage, but inside the chair was fine.

Not in the yard, but in the house... I had picked a bunch of dried on the vine, very special, baby pole limas, and had them sitting in a bowl in the dining room... I was in the kitchen and heard this odd sound coming from the dining room... It was the baby limas bursting their pods open...
That reminded me of when my cousins were here visiting from Massachusetts, getting ready to leave and you know how we gardeners are, we like to send people home with stuff from the garden... Besides the usual stuff, at the last minute, I gave them some lupine pods, still attached to the stems, which had been drying on the plants... On their way home, probably due to the heat in the car, the lupine pods started popping open, shooting seeds all around in the car... Cousins told me that they got a good laugh from that...
