It's not under the lights since Mid January. Beats me. The bulb is still firm. Maybe it felt like it was being forced!!!!! desertwoman

lisaann, have you put any fish fertilizer or seaweed feed on it? Mine is finally dying off.

The last few days the flower stalk on mine has been growing 2+ inches daily. It's now 14 inches tall but not near ready to bloom yet.

But it is budding lisaann, And It has finally moved since your update on 2/15.. We'll see how long it actually takes to bloom. But I thought that was what is done with amaryllis- forcing them. (and so many do that in December before solstice, when the days are really short) So I'm wondering if it's about daylight hours. Maybe it just was stubborn this year and wanted to sleep in longer- like a teenager.

I was neglectful with my bulb this year... I brought it from sitting outside in it's pot, to into the garage much earlier this winter, right before we were to have freezing weather one night... And that's where it sat, throughout the freezing weather and for several weeks after that...shame on me...but at least it was in the garage...
Then I felt guilty...so one day I felt the bulb...it did not feel squishy... stuck it in a plastic bag sealed securely so as not to bring in a bunch of bugs...pot, same old soil and the bulb...and it's now sitting in the cellar...as is...
I need to take it outside and open it up...get that old soil off the bulb and see what's going on... If I'm lucky, I can resurrect it...We'll see...

Hey lisaann , how is your amaryllis doing? Mine is in full bloom right now- 4 flowers on one stalk. The first flower bloomed about a week ago.

Oh, my. Pretty, pretty. Does it need support to keep it erect? Or does it just need a big pot to keep it from falling over?

In my experience- neither binnylou, Mine is in a smallish pot but the stem is very sturdy.

binnylou, I'm in a big 8" clay pot. No staking. It's gotta be clay though, Or I will kill it with water kindness.
