Been working on writing that quilt pattern off and on today. It's a process. It is suggested that I get 2 people to make the quilt from my instructions before I try to market the thing. Of course I would provide the fabric and they would keep the quilt. The idea is to find errors and ways to improve the instructions. centralilrookie I'm thinking of your mom for this project!! I'm thinking it's going to take a year or more to get it all done. Shoveled a path to the mailbox today, our snow guy hasn't been by but that's OK. He knows we had no plans to go anywhere. He would have been back tomorrow anyway.

Mumsey, my hat's off to you! I designed a pixilated quilt and that was one of the most difficult things I've attempted. It turned out okay and I'm planning to hand quilt it in the future but oh what a task keeping all the pieces straight.

Ran a couple of errands this morning before the weather turned to crap. Sweetheart is still being plagued by a persistent cough but she won’t stay still. The horses were given extra rations tonight as the temperature is -10 with a windchill of -35, they seem pretty content staying in the barn. I’m thankful that their water tank heaters are all working properly. I hope everyone is staying safe and warm…… Mumsey, she might get kick out of that!

Stuffed cabbage are done and in the oven. Another labor of love. I'm glad I watched my mom make them all those years ago. Still don't like to cook though. Now I can sit back and relax. Everything is wrapped, fire is going, Christmas music playing and I have a glass of wine. As centralilrookie, would say, Life is good.

I'd like to share something that kiddo did yesterday. I'm more and more confident about leaving her unsupervised for a few minutes while I run out to feed the birds or another quick task. Well yesterday while hubby and I were filling the animal shelters with straw she decided to climb up and get the three rolls of wrapping paper down and completely unroll all three of them in about five minutes. I definitely wasn't happy and she knew she did something she shouldn't have but she helped me straighten and roll the paper back up as good as we could. Two of the rolls were about empty but one was an extra large roll I'd just opened. Hubby asked why I didn't scold her and I replied that she'd just made a memory that we'd talk about for years. So sure enough while I'm trimming the ripped paper to fit a gift I have to chuckle. I don't think anyone is going to complain about wrinkled paper this year.

I worked in the yard today!! It was 42º and sunny, so comfortable. I finally got to start doing some fall clean up now that snow has melted. Got the blower out and blew leaves from walkways, into flower beds . Even blew a bunch from the native grass areas into the beds (still enough on the grasses to feed the soil.. Sure felt good. After the holidays I will start cutting back perennials and preliminary beds cleanup, on the beautiful days we will definitely have even in January and February.

Woke up to the sound of drip, drip, drip. Nothing like an under the kitchen sink drip on a busy kitchen day. At least it is a clean drip, drip, drip.

I went out briefly today to give both my neighbors some cookies, and that was enough outside for me!

We were cooking this afternoon 5 dozen farolitos were lit at sunset. We're having a quiet Christmas Eve at home. Hubby made a pot of green chile, with chiles from the garden, and we ate enchiladas tonight-chicken for him, black bean for me with a 3 year old sharp cheddar grated on top. The chiles were a hot batch, so I cut the heat with a plant based sour cream.
And I made a pot of my mom's tomato sauce for tomorrows lasagna dinner, with turkey meatballs and chicken spicy Italian sausage.

We braved the weather and made the seven-mile journey to mother-in-law's for Christmas. We have a two-mile trek to the main highway and it was very icy under the snow. The main road only exists in this county for approximately five miles before ending and is notoriously neglected by the department of highways in the winter. Thankfully when we reached the county line the roads were much improved. I told mom not to expect us early this year as dad is always itching to open stuff in the morning. Kiddo has a small mound of presents this year and probably the most we've ever bought her but mostly inexpensive stuff she enjoys like stuffed animals and art supplies. My niece bought kiddo a stretchy rubber Minnie Mouse and demonstrated just how far it would stretch. I no sooner commented that that probably wasn't a good thing to show her before Minnie's head tore off and little tiny microscopic pellets covered me and the floor. We swept the living room floor twice and could still feel them underfoot when we left.

We went to the 10pm Christmas Eve mass last night. The church was magical. There is something about walking into a darkened church and when the light come up to reveal the decorated alter, that makes it Christmas for me. Just got back from opening presents by my son's house with the two granddaughters. Home to pack up the food and more gifts to go to my sister's house for the day.
Merry Christmas to all!!!!

My aunt wasn't feeling well and we discussed postponing Christmas at my parent's until next weekend but then mom messaged me mid-morning and said that she had too much food made ahead and we'd better come on down. So it was just the five of us and we had a wonderful time. Mom bought kiddo a doll she loved and I think it kept her busy most of the day. The main road in our county is much improved but the secondary road is still pretty much ice. Mom had extra lemon Amish bread an half a rum cake left and I will freeze both. Today will be a day of putting new stuff away and tomorrow will likely be a trip to town for animal feed and milk. I'm hoping to find a few more totes at the thrift store and maybe pick up a few rolls of marked-down wrapping paper too.

I made a mess in the kitchen running 700 tangerines through a juicer. I harvested a cabbage that we frozen. Part of the inside looked a little freeze damaged but I roasted it in the oven and ate it anyway

Not getting any notifications and although I posted this to Desertwoman, I realized she would probably not get a notification of that post (Catch22 situation here). So tagging her here and if anyone has another way to reach her, please do, so this can be corrected. Thanks
