Today started out slow as I didn’t sleep much last night. But by noon I started off on about a 60 mile trip to pickup sawdust for horse bedding. Got a phone number from the farrier and his recommendation so I felt pretty confident. Modern technology guided me a different route than I would have taken on my own but no big deal. Big modern neat place and I was loaded and on my way home in a jiff. About 10 miles from home I get a call from the guy wondering when I’m going to get there. WHAT?? I went to the wrong place!! His business is on the same road about 500 yds north in a couple of old buildings. Who would believe that in a town of less than 2000 people there would be 2 businesses doing the same type of work on the same road? Obviously not me…..

Started out deep cleaning my "she" shed yesterday morning (second level). Lint and fabric string everywhere. Then decided to make trip to town since the weather is going to be going way downhill starting later today. Stopped cleaning and took off. Got home and DH said the washer was on the fritz, what??? It wouldn't pump water in or out. There is a drain clean out with easy front access, so we opened that up and the thing was full of lint and dog hair. No wonder water couldn't get in or out. Plus we had a mess of water on the floor, didn't think to drain the machine, there's a little drain tube to do that before opening the clean out. emmsmommy, I didn't see a lot of fabric stuff from the quilts. There was a quarter in there though! Works perfectly now. Got some fabric for last 2 rag quilts, one for step mom and one for sis. Step mom's will be owls and sis's will be frogs. I'll use sheets for the middle and backing. Had a time finding owl fabric, not one choice in JoAnn other than fleece. Found a really nice cotton print at Hobby Lobby though! Not on sale, but way less per yard than I'm used to seeing elsewhere. Did manage a walk and finished the cleaning I started. Picked up a rotisserie chicken for DH, easy supper! Time to make another mess today!

Uncovered the winter lettuce and whatnot to get the nice, light, steady, all day rain. A bit chilly, but good.
Baking bread.
If I get motivated I'll see if I need to order any seeds.
Gonna send myself on some errands when the bread is done. Ugh, driving.
ETA: I forgot. I made a pot of chicken broth. I let it cool down to sorta near room temperature then put it in the fridge. I'll skim the hardened fat and strain it later tonight or tomorrow. Should get about 3 quarts from it, which I usually reheat and drink as-is. Sometimes I use it to make soup.

My phone died, so I had to go get a new one. Guy behind the counter was pretty cool, not trying to sell me all the bells and whistles. The new one is not not much different than old one. Samsung. just an upgrade. The new one is bigger, which I don't like, but They are all pretty much the same size. Remember the old Nokia's? Fit nicely into your pocket.

My old S9 is no longer supported for OS or security updates, one or the other. So it's about time, I suppose. The plain S22 seems to be the current equivalent, but I'll probably get the Flip 4 because I remember the old Motorola Razr flip phone. The Samsung Flip 4 is certainly bigger, but it folds. I'm not overly worried about its naturally lesser robustness compared to the S22, even when hiking. And yeah, the kid who helped me was knowledgeable, informative, and not pushy. Cool.

Busy on those rag quilts I decided to gift this year. One to go. Then I need to can more pinto and garbanzo beans. DS will be here for Christmas weekend and he loves them both and ends up taking some home.
The Princess is not liking this cold weather! She did run like a crazy dog in the backyard while I was poop searching, then she was ready to go in.
About to start lettuce one of these days in hydroponics, should have done it a month ago.

We are officially 0-2 for Christmas celebrations this year, we canceled having my family over last weekend because of my coughing and today we put a halt to having sweetheart’s family over tomorrow as she is coughing uncontrollably. She started hacking last night and it just kept getting worse so luckily she got in to see a dr this afternoon. Not happy that the diagnosis is influenza b but glad that she now has some meds to help her along. I guess I better put the 4 racks of ribs that I was going to smoke tomorrow in the freezer….. 😂

Well I guess I did a dumb thing yesterday too, but I did it twice! My plan was to go early and finish Christmas shopping and do the last big grocery trip of the season. Hubby is on week 5 or 6 of the never-ending sinus infection and decided to finally go back to the doctor except our normal doctor is out with the flu. So I convince him to go to the quick-care place in town instead of waiting until next week. I checked him in but he was required to stay outside because of his symptoms which wasn’t a bad thing because the waiting room was full. I left him the phone and walked to Lowes to use the bathroom and when I returned he was gone so I took the phone and walked to Harbor Freight only to have him message me that he was finished about a minute later. So a stronger antibiotic this time and fingers crossed that it works. From there we stopped at one thrift store where I bought 4 nice totes for $2-3 each and some jeans. Stopped at the other thrift store for the electronics pickup and bought a wooden dollhouse too. From there I braved Walmart and had 90% of the Christmas shopping finished when the school called and said kiddo was sick, so off to the checkout I go. She was asleep by the time I got there and she immediately started crying and wanted to be carried which is unusual. She got sick while I was unbuckling the harness on her seat and thankfully her blanket was there to catch it. Once inside she perked up and started watching SpongeBob before falling asleep. I waited about an hour and decided to brave town again to finish grocery shopping as I plan to cook most of the day today. Kroger had a promotion where you could buy a spiral ham for .99 a pound with $25 purchase and I'm fixing it today as I don't have the freezer space to store it. We are supposed to go to a Christmas dinner tomorrow but I'm going to hold off on making stuff until the last minute as I want to be sure kiddo only had the stomach bug that hubby had a few days ago and not the flu. Managed to fill two of the new totes with shirts waiting to be cut apart for quilts and the other two with Christmas gifts waiting to be wrapped, which cleared out a shelf in the linen closet. I bought one new roll of wrapping paper this year for kiddo but am determined to use up what I have and maybe buy a few new rolls on clearance after Christmas. Gift bags are definitely easier, but kiddo and her cousin love unwrapping stuff.

Mumsey, I keep telling myself I'll relax after Christmas. desertwoman, kiddo slept 18 hours straight and we started out with juice and crackers this morning. No fever and so far everything is staying down. She wanted milk so trying that now. Thankfully I think it was just the stomach bug this time.
