his morning she is on a tirade not sure the reception I'll get in the office. Things have gotten pretty bad and three more volunteers have quit and a PTO officer is considering turning in her resignation. I'm considering my options One other option is to go over the principal's head to her superiors. If her tirade was in a text message, it is proof of what is going on and she needs to be reigned in or removed. As my child's advocate as well as a tax paying citizen, I would not stand back when my child's education is at stake. Why should she lose out on the good education she is entitled to. You and the other parents would be doing all children at the school a favor if you stood together and insisted that the situation change. Wishing you luck.

Today was book keeping/pay bills day. We have complicated bill paying with 4 different accounts and it took longer than I had anticipated. I rarely write checks anymore- maybe 2 or 3 a year. Everything is done either electronically or by debit card. Did 2 loads of laundry which got me up from the computer and walking around a bit, in between. Also spoke with a client by phone , for an hour. Still not quite able to do the rest of the Fall cleanup- waiting for the snow to finish melting and soil to dry out a bit. It had been so cold the snow we got last week just sat there.

Started going through fabric scraps yesterday, decided to make a rag quilt, like the ones that emmsmommy makes. Cut up over 250 squares and eliminated a whole pile of scraps! Then for flannel backing and inner layer I went to the junk shop and found heavy flannel sheets, very nice and hardly worn. So I spent more time cutting and sewing X's on each square, using fancy stitches on my machine. Playing around with all the stitches really, it is making me learn how to use the features! I decided on this project to give my fingers a rest from hand quilting. This quilt requires none of that, and not even binding. I have enough fabric to make at least 2 of them. We went for a short walk in the afternoon, yikes! The wind! Hoping to clean up car today, inside and out. There will be a window this afternoon of less fierce wind, so will attempt to do it then.

You and the other parents would be doing all children at the school a favor if you stood together and insisted that the situation change. Wishing you luck. When I went in the secretary was as nice as usual and I just asked if there was a chance of speaking with her and the principal after I was finished in the classroom. I pointed out my dilemma and how it's really hard to judge tone in a chat group. We agreed that all parties involved likely misjudged tones. I also asked if there were any issues that needed to be addressed between the PTO and the school as our purpose was to work together. Some points were made and I've presented them to the volunteers in an effort to try and work together. I also stressed to the principal to please ask questions and point out any conflicts in scheduling that may arise. It turns out that the school is on probation and state officials will be observing next week so everyone is on edge. There's another event besides our Christmas store going on next week as well. I really hate being mediator but I could not go on any longer. This is our third principal in less than a year and I do understand that she's been thrown into a situation that started years ago and I do hope all parties can just try and get along. If the situation continues to get worse I have no problem going to someone higher in command as I've had to do that several times in the past in regards to my daughter's therapies. I also brought up the issue of my daughter's current aide being forbidden to contact me outside of school and the misunderstanding it caused between us. I assumed since she was leaving she didn't care about my daughter anymore. Since my daughter's vocabulary is still limited (but improving daily) the aide and I have always communicated to give each other a heads-up on moods, etc... I'm still waiting for the opportunity to thoroughly peruse the Baker Creek catalog and looking forward to it in the near future. I actually had a dream last night that it was May first and I hadn't started any seeds yet.

Took advantage of an opportunity to snuggle with kiddo and sleep in this morning. It's chilly and rainy and my only plans are to make a cheese ball and chicken bacon ranch dip for tomorrow. I'm always asked for the recipe for my cheese ball but really don't have one. It's a combination of cream cheese, shredded cheese and whatever assorted veggies I have on hand. Looks like this one will have onions, sun-dried tomatoes and carrots for sure. Will probably make a double batch of the dip as the recipe is actually intended as a sandwich filling and I think hubby and kiddo might enjoy it for their lunch as well. Otherwise I'm finishing some ornaments and getting stuff ready for tomorrow.

With a little sunshine and warmer temperatures yesterday I started on my barn project by taking the stalls out and digging out to put the ag lime in. This morning as it warmed up a little I got started back at it. The area is 30’ long x 13’ wide 8” deep that I dug out, with my little tractor of course, and filled back in with all but a wheel barrow full of the 13 tons of lime that was put in a couple of layers that I compacted each layer. I feel pretty lucky to have got this project done as the rain last weekend and colder temps had frozen the outer 4 inches of the pile and the tractor couldn’t break thru. I’m feeling beat up tonight but it was a very good day……

Needed to cut 25 more squares for the rag quilt, so did that in the morning. Then headed to Dad's with a side trip to the big city first. Went to JoAnns and stocked up on Guterman thread, on sale plus $5 off. Then to Bath & Body works, 3 wick candles $9.95 each, lowest price ever I think. Regular price is $26.50, plus I had a $25 gift card. Then on to HyVee, I had been wanting a red Christmas Cactus, found one. They had some for $16.99, then stepped to the back of the display and saw smaller ones for $8. Sneaky how things are hidden! . At the checkout I noticed a stack of coupons for 20 cents off per gallon of gas, good for yesterday only. I was going to get gas first but decided to finish shopping first. Good thing, got gas for $2.99. Then to Wally World for a few items. My mind was full of stuff, so I didn't pay any attention to where I parked, usually I will look at the row number before going in. I swear I roamed that parking lot for 5 minutes looking like an idiot! I'm sure the Salvation Army bell ringer was watching me.......and it was cold out there! Finally made it to Dad's at 11:30. They were fixing lunch, Dad has to cook kale a LONG time, don't ask me why! Told brother I wasn't there to watch kale cook! He's still picking Kale from the garden. The plan was to process deer meat into sausage. So I went to the basement and started trimming out the pork roasts to be added to it. Got it done, it was some good pork, hardly any fat. Trimmings went to the cats, who are more than willing to devour it. Ran the deer and pork through the ancient meat grinder, spread it on a table, mixed in the seasoning, ran it through the grinder again. I divided it all up into 1 lb, step mom wrapped it, then I marked it all. 53 lbs total. Brother and Dad did clean up. Dad offered me some to take home, I did take 2, not the 4-5 he said. Told him I'd rather have sweet potatoes, so scored some of those. Spent some time watching Canadian geese on the quarry. They were lined up like little soldiers on the edge of ice around an open area of water. It was a whole flock, probably 50-60 geese. Finished up sewing those squares when I got home. Today I can assemble them, made a grid pattern on paper last night. I have no idea how it's going to turn out, random numbers of random fabrics!

Took two of the grandkids to the riding stables where the 6 year old takes riding lessons. They had a Christmas festival. Pony rides, face painting, hot chocolate and lots of cookies. Santa and the Mrs. even showed up. Kids had fun. Wanted to do something special for the 8 year old grandson. He's the son of hubby's daughter who just wound up in jail again over the weekend. Long history of mental health issues and drug abuse. It's so hard on the kids. Anyway, we had fun and the two of them get along really well.

I'm sorry to hear about your step daughter datgirl , That can be so hard to navigate. Often times people with mental health issues self medicate with drugs or alcohol. Your grandson is very fortunate to have you for support.

It was a classic Sunday Day of Rest. We had our usual slow morning and then went to new friends' house for brunch at 10:30. They are the kind of people you feel instantly simpatico with. We were there 5 hours, which flew by. By the time we got home we were ready to continue the restful day.

Got all the quilt squares done and started sewing them together. Found myself always wanting to put right sides together, this one is the opposite, wrong sides together! I've done plenty of ripping, I now have my brain trained!
Got 4 rows done, then started snipping the seams every 1/2". That's hard on the hands too, so found that using appliqué scissors works best, they seem to be the sharpest ones. I'll have to do a few rows at a time to reduce the "hand" fatigue!
Went outside and raked up 3 bins of leaves that accumulated with the high winds. Piles of them and they accumulated in the same places that snowdrifts do in a NW wind. Seriously considering a snow fence! Finally made it to the car wash, went the other day but one bay was out of order and there was a line, so left. This time the change machine was out of order. I'm not comfortable putting a credit card in the machine. It says to put in your card and leave it in til you are done. Not happening. So I did a really fast wash with the change I had.

After my activities Saturday I must admit that I didn’t have much energy yesterday. With that said I was up at 5:30 getting a couple of pork butts seasoned up to put in the smoker as requested by one of my grandsons for his team meal tonight. Did my usual chores and a couple of other low energy projects seemed to satisfy my motivational needs for the day. The pork butts reached the proper temp about 4:30 they were then wrapped in towels and placed in coolers to rest. Sweetheart went with her daughter’s family to see a Christmas themed park with reindeer and I went to another grandson’s indoor soccer event. Returning home I shredded the pork and lightly seasoned it. I must be getting a soft as sleep came easy again……

Mumsey, I invested in the Fiskars spring-loaded snips when I did mine. Still was a bit hard on the hands after a while but they helped. Bought the spring-loaded scissors for my mom too as she has trouble with arthritis and she loves them. I agree the sewing the wrong sides together thing is hard to get used to especially when you're switching between projects.

Finally had an hour or so to peruse the Baker Creek, Botanical Interests and Vermont Bean catalogs this morning. Received the regular Baker Creek Catalog today too and will be passing the damaged Whole Seed Catalog to a young gardening neighbor when I get the replacement.
Speaking of the Whole Seed Catalog, I'm enchanted by a recipe for wan du Huang or pea pudding and really want to give it a try. I really don't like cooked peas but it sounds interesting.
Tomorrow we set up the Christmas store at school and I'll be there for that the rest of the week. Friday kiddo and I will leave early and pick up mom for our trip to the sleep study clinic. Want to get there before dark so I know for sure where I'm going and can get Mom a hotel room before check-in time.
After this week I'm claiming the majority of my free time for myself. I've decided other than hubby's stocking (which may or may not get finished this year) I'm only working on a table runner for mom for Christmas. To date she's never received a quilted present from me, so this will be the year I rectify that.
