Yep, I turned Rexx onto Amazing and I think Mumsey turned me onto it way back when.
I got my seeds from Pinetree. Way back when. The seeds are still good this year too.
I get a better crop in the fall than the spring.
So I do a broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bsprouts planting and turnips for a fall crop. Peas as a fall crop don't impress me here.
What do you have success with as a fall crop up there?

LA, I actually opened the leaves a bit more for the photo. They were covering the head better than what you see in the pic.

I looked up the DTM and it is 75 days but my plant is only at about 45 days so I may give it another week or two. I don't want it to open up so I will watch closely.

Is that 75 days from seed or transplanting?

DTM for things that are not direct seeded usually means from date of transplanting.

that Italian seed company is interesting. I always wonder why we would want to grow Italian seeds in usa? I had to look up aggretti - something that grows by the sea in brackish waters and is all the rage in the high end restaurants, apparently!

OK, it's 8 days after I took that first pic and here is the same head. I harvested it today. It's not super tight and round like a store cauliflower but it's a home grown organic cauliflower! I have 2 more out there that are smaller which is convenient since we can't eat 3 at once.
Cabbage looks like it will be ready in a few days too.

That is beautiful and much preferable to those tight store bought ones.

Good thing that I took that pic right away because hubby came home from work, saw the cauliflower sitting on the kitchen counter and immediately cut a piece off and ate it. I am steaming more for dinner.

Yep, that is nice cauliflower! Woo hoo. And I am confused.............It looks perfect to me? Store bought cauliflower is bumpy here too. Par boil some for 4 minutes. Dip it in a whipped up egg, coat it in cornflake crumbs, and fry in some oil in a pan till it browns nicely. Drain on paper towels. and serve hot. My granny always served it this way, on Sundays, and everyone always ate it up. I come from a family of fried food lovers! Can't ya tell?
