Plant peonies! Peonies attract a fly that will eliminate beetle larvae by laying its eggs on the grubs and canablizing them. Kinda like the fly that infects the tomato hornworms...

I have about 8 peonies and chickens that dig out the grubs and eat them too but I still have tons of JB's. How are the JB's at your house claude? I know that you have applied milky spore in the past.

I have this on the asparagus along with the jap Beetles: What are they, wasps/ hornets?

I can't tell for sure but I think that wasps have a skinnier waist so I am guessing hornet don't forget that either of them gather insects to pack into their nests for the larvae to eat so you may want to leave them alone unless they are too close to a house door or something. Maybe they are grabbing asparagus beetles to feed to their babies.
I have honeybees going to my asparagus flowers and I have seen a couple of bumble bees too.

I'll leave them, but I thought I might be able to identify if I saw a nest.
I did see a dead shell of a Jap Beetle clinging to a frond.

That isn't a SVB fly misplaced? Does it buzz?

The SVB is a fuzzy, orange colored little bast***...too fat to be a wasp. I see them, never heard them buzz..I think that they are stealth like.

The first time I saw one, it was on my winter squash..I thought, oh I wonder what that insect is..then like a lightening bolt I remembered being told that SVB were expected the week before. It was a stealth flyer..not a sound..no buzzing wings,,no swoop..

You guys who don't have Japanese Beetles can be VERY glad. Just look at my Puerto Rican black bean plants. Luckily they are leaving my other pole beans alone.
