I'm only doing container gardening at the moment, so my planning simply involves planting things at the correct times in the proper size container. Not a whole lot of planning required apart from starting seeds on time.

I plant as the spirit moves me. Works for me (45+ years).

I go out to the garden, look at each area, remember what was there last year, then decide what is going there this year. As far as time to plant, I use a garden planning book, my spreadsheet, my Clyde's planting calculator, common sense, and listen to what others in my area are doing. I am fortunate to have a very large garden space so there are many areas slated for soil improvement by way of cover crops and compost. Seems to be a mix of the lilolpeapicker, breezygardener, and desertwoman, methodologies plus some of my own stuff.

wargarden2017, What kind of beans, bush, pole or half runner. I presume if they are climbing, they are intended to run up the corn stalks. Would the corn shade the beets or will they be harvested before the corn gets some height?

My garden map, such as it is, typically looks like an M.C. Escher drawing.

most of black radish are for clay breaking, soil conditioning and living mulch to keep soil moist. Wouldn't longer-type radishes like White Icicle &/or Daikon be better for that purpose?
