I have found the black Spanish radishes to be bitter and they are more round than long. I would go with the daikon, also, but if you like the flavor of the black radish, why not.

All of my plans currently reside in my head at the moment. I planted the black radishes last year and only one really produced anything. The packet recommended them for fall planting but mom was already burnt out on radishes by that point and I was just... burnt out.

breezygardener maybe they would; but I also roast and pickle black radish. black radish do better in summer heat then daikon and white Icicle.
breezygardener both you and gardendmpls get points for asking good questions. reuben must tough implimenting plan with all those excess dimensions.

I've never had a formal garden plan. I do sort of have an idea of what I'm planting where, but it's flexible depending on what bed or seedlings are ready to go out when. And where the gophers have been active... As I've gotten older and seem to be growing less, that makes it easier since there will be more than enough room for everything.
The only real plan for this year is to eliminate as much hand watering as possible.

most of black radish are for clay breaking, soil conditioning and living mulch to keep soil moist. Wouldn't longer-type radishes like White Icicle &/or Daikon be better for that purpose? Outside Pride has bulk seed for cheap for a variety of sodbuster daikon called “Fracking Radish” , they can get over two feet long and do some bio-tilling, it’s the one in my photo. I use them for cover cropping as well as fresh eating and pickling

I think it’s important to document as much as possible in order to improve garden planning, and I’m strict about crop rotation, but I’m too lazy to keep a meticulous journal of which varieties were where and how I cared for them and how much each yielded etc so I take videos of my garden at least once a month and upload them to YouTube, so when planning I can always look back and see what was where and how it performed to improve planning.
