I just love watching guineas hunting. I think that they are really interesting birds but too noisy for me to have and they really don't like to be penned up.

The chickens next door are pretty noisy these days...I keep checking on them because of how dramatic they get...keep wondering if a predator is around!

When a hen lays an egg she sings the "egg song" which is a bunch of loud clucking. Sometimes it can get quite loud and a hen may do this for several minutes. If a couple of hens lay eggs at the same time it will be double "singing". That may be what you are hearing.

They have a different sound for when they are in a panic. More like a screaming bunch of clucks. Hopefully you won't hear that sound.

They were more loud than distress...they were LOUD! My sister was visiting and asked what kind of wild animal was outside in the woods. Lol

They want everyone to know that they laid an egg. Loud and proud!

Here ticks are not something you get from going in the woods. They are something you get from stepping out the door. Deer are everywhere, staring at you as if to say "why are you here in MY yard" and they bring ticks. Not treating the pets will mean treating for Lyme disease later. I had antibiotics once already this year and I don't want them again so both dogs and the cat get treated.

So here is an update. I found 3 ticks in Kaners ears yesterday. Luckily they came right off. Tick season must be in full swing now. The BioEssential Oil did the job for a while but I think I'm going to have to go with the stronger tick control. We have a wooded area on our property that the dog does not stay out of. I feel like at least I limited his exposure to the chemicals but the thought of him getting Lyme disease was too much.

this is a new reply for Sunday the 22nd:
the dogs were out of the generic frontline. They haven't had the heart worm chewable since the end of March. ??? (some miscommunication with hubby). I did more research and I found something for fleas and ticks that uses some essential oils but the active ingredient is neem. I ordered some. You bathe the dogs and it lasts approx 2-3 weeks. i use neem on very difficult pest problems in my garden..like Lilly beetles..or chewing pests that simple methods do not work on..like flea beetles or bean beetles that other controls haven't worked with.
my dogs don't run thru fields or go for walks all the time..we mostly play inside the invisible fence area where grass is cut and bagged so although we do get fleas and ticks..exposure is limited.
The chewable for the heart worm is something that they will be staying on..this is effective up to 4 mo exposure as long as you keep them on it constantly for a year. Heartguard brand. flea collars don't work because of how they chew up and pull on collars. ill let you know about the shampoo's effectiveness. It's called theraneem shampoo from iherb.com

Oh, one more day thing..they are not with other animals. By themselves they have enough socialization..
i also tried aristopet flea flea and tick shampoo..pyrethrums, eucalyptus and mint.. still have to find the essential oils for maintenance..the cedar and oil of orange
