I was looking through the online sale flyer for a local business. Repeatedly, if I wanted to see the price, I had to add the item to the cart.
I find this so annoying.

I haven't seen this one, but got a notice about it from Lowes. Be on the lookout for getting charged a monthly fee to receive a paper statement from places like Lowes. $1.99 to be exact. For every month that you get a paper statement. Trickle down effect to the consumer, big time. Unfair especially for elderly (or anyone) who either do not want a computer or can not afford one.

That's good to know Mumsey, I'l, start paying attention to bills. I still prefer getting paper statements even though I do all my bill paying and banking on my computer. But I am not willing to pay them for it, that's for sure!

Many want you to go paperless or charge for billing but I seem to get a couple of unwanted advertisements from them a month.

The companies have to inform you a while before these charges begin. I must have ignored it because I got another notice yesterday. I promptly changed to e-statements and added comments about it on their "survey". I'm like you desertwoman, I like to see it on paper. Of course we can print it out ourselves but that costs us too.

It seems that just about every email, garden blog post or YouTube video is promoting raised bed kits running from $150 to $300 each and made of metal or cedar. Yes, they look pretty and I wouldn't mind having one or two but I'd hate to think that new gardeners think that these beds are the key to growing great food. I think maybe full disclosure is in order, explaining how much soil will be needed to fill these beds and just how many plants each bed will hold. I just worry that new gardeners will shell out a ton of money, have some gardening failures, and join those who say that's it's more economical to buy produce from the store than to grow it yourself.
I understand that my garden is much larger than most and being rural does help when finding cheap or free materials. If I came across one used and for a reasonable price, I'd snag it in a minute. I guess I'm just a firm believer in reclaimed and/or cheaper materials for beds.

I went from framed out beds back to regular when the boards rotted (this was before the kits and ready-made). Does just as well. Framed, raised beds are good where you have hard, undiggable soil. Also good where you have disabled gardeners who need something they can scoot a wheelchair under or stand up next to and not have to bend. They might be good if you value neatness of bed edges. I did put a brick edging around my beds over time as I found the discarded bricks. Helps delineate the pathways so visitors don't tromp over the plants.

Pet peeve of the day/month/year is the use of the word “housewife”. I especially find that word objectionable in published obituaries. “Homemaker” better describes a life.
I yield the soapbox.

I’m #3 of 9 and my youngest sister went away when her kids were young for 5 weekdays. Her husband was at home w their 4 children ages 2-12. One-off my adult sisters stopped by to see how things were going on day 3. She found a frazzled overwhelmed Daddy struggling to follow the schedule. Three different schools, sports, activities, meals homework and bedtime…he made her a cape w a red S embossed uponthe back and kept saying, She makes it look so easy ..I’m exhausted. Better than marriage therapy…appreciation.

Got utility bill a couple days ago. There was a green notice in there, never good. The letter started out "We hope this message finds you well." (A red flag for, you won't feel well after reading this.). Who starts out a public notice like that??? They are raising cable rates by 80%. I didn't feel unwell, just outraged. As are many other in the community. Yesterday I stopped by the office and asked what improvements we could expect, like streaming with no cable, etc. Nothing will change except the price. I canceled cable and gently mentioned the first sentence of the letter was not appreciated. I think I was more upset by the opening greeting than the actual content.
I have finally discovered that our Samsung has Free Samsung TV with over 300 channels available, and includes ION which I do watch. The only thing missing is local channels. If I really want one of those I can get Peacock for $11.99 month, far less than cable. And I can easily live through the summer without cable, been there done that.

Weather forecasters! I always err -5 to -10 degrees from the forecast to account for elevation and this was to be the warmest of the last three nights. Lowest temperature in the last few nights was 34° and on this "warmer" night it was 32° by 8:00.
