After 2 weeks of activity, I got quite a bit done!
I planted tatsoi, beets, broccoli, chard, cilantro and cosmos into the garden....
I planted lettuces and flowers into trays....
I put tomato and eggplant seeds into wet paper towels....
But nothings happening..... :( Also checking on asparagus....
I am checking daily, as you can imagine! I have a lot left to do too! It would help if something started happening, lol!
I do have spinach and peas up - but I planted those a month or more ago!
It's time for some action out there, lol!!!

How has the temps been where you are? If it has been like here it has been unusually cold except for a day here and there. So maybe things are delayed? Frustrating though I can imagine.

I want it to be like the old chia pet commercials....with the time lapse growing, lol! Well - maybe that'd be "too easy"! Cold the past few days, but nice before that and alot of this is inside.... Waiting......waiting......waiting.... let me go check again.

It is happening, you just can't see underground! Asparagus is in full swing here now but it only started a couple of days ago. You are maybe a zone and a half north? So give it maybe a couple of days. I love asparagus this time of year. It starts the garden off with a bang.

Do you have a heating paid underneath? I have done better this year with it. It is not real strong heat, just a little.

You would think things would be going by now? The grass has not even greened up yet. I did see a few dandelion blooms yesterday.

lol! it worked! The lettuces are sprouting!
I think they may have been working behind the scenes. 2 came up within a half centimeter of each other, so I decided to move one. the root was nearly an inch long......up top they just had tiny necks.....

In the Chicago area it has been too cold for anything planted outside unless the plants are in a cold frame. Plants started inside should be growing fairly well provided the inside temperatures meet the plants needs. Tomatoes and eggplants need a soil temperature around 70 F for germination. That can be found on the refrigerator top. Some people have used heating pads for bottom heat which is not a good idea since temperature control is really iffy and if the pad gets wet it can short out and start a fire.

When using a heating pad, it's important to put blocks of wood on either end and place the tray on top of that so the tray is not resting directly on the pad. Place the tray in a plastic bag before placing it on the blocks. Moisture problem solved. Excessive heat problem solved as there is air circulation between the pad and tray.
Been doing it for years.

And here today its still snowing. Got about 5 inches now. It will be interesting to see what the temperatures do when it clears? Often after snow storms the temps drop drastically. Won't be planting anything in the garden for a week or so I guess?
