Temps are to remain above freezing at night for at least the next week. The Princess has figured out how to navigate the drifts in the back yard. Though today I saw her sink into a big one, but she was able to get out of it. Silly dog.

Interesting weather here, 38° and we had at least 3" or more of rain overnight with most of our snow melted. Several roads in the area are closed due to flooding and I now live on an island. Not really an island but there is water everywhere I look.

It is currently 78 degrees here!!!! In January. These are record-breaking January temps here. While we did just have the front door open earlier, we just had to put the a/c on because the temps inside were over 80 & just too toasty to be comfortable. Am just about to head out & weed/prep a few deck tubs I didn't get to end-of-season.

Looks like most of us are thawing out. Got a dusting of snow last night but we are also in a warming trend. It has been in the mid 40s for the past week with lows in the 20s- all normal winter temps. Most of the deep snow has melted or is close to gone. (except where my shoveling piled it 2-3 ft deep around trees). We're going to be sunny and in the 50s starting tomorrow., with lows in the low 30s.

It's in the chilly 50's here today, with a little weak sun. I'd like to give Mother Nature a kick in the patootie for the Spring teaser of 79 degrees she gave us yesterday. My dwarf fig is starting to leaf out & is going to be very upset when it has to come back inside tomorrow before the sub-freezing temps return.

37* with some fog. You can see the grass in the paths that were made to get to the barn and around the house etc. I can even see the garden beds. They are calling for the 40's all next week. Hard to believe it was subzero a week ago.

There's a little sun today, and a little blue in the sky, by it doesn't last long at a time. It's gotten to 50°, so far, but it's not supposed to get much warmer. The snow is all gone, with more rain forecast - over an inch and a quarter in this area. I'm glad all this rain I'm getting, since that snow, isn't still snow!

We've had temps in the high 50s - low 60s the last few days. Some rain but not the torrential downpours that were forecasted. Took a few minutes to walk around and enjoy the garden this morning.

After some cold and snow early last week, it warmed up quickly and we had temperatures close to 60 over the weekend. Supposed to get a few more days of mild, dry and 60 weather and then next weekend, another round of cold and wet. They said right now it could be snow, could be rain, a mix of the two or if it stayed warm enough, could be some heavier rain. Feels like Mother Nature it preparing us for spring. We are in Colorado, so one of our snowiest months can be February and March so no surprise we might still get snow.
Can't believe that January is almost done! Seems once I get into February, there is more on my list of seed starting indoors.

Beautiful day…light jacket was adequate for my trip to town. The sunshine must have been good for us. Customers and employees were in a good mood. It’s a sunglasses kind of day.

The sunshine must have been good for us. Customers and employees were in a good mood. That is so true. When I lived in Oregon it could be weeks without sun. I watched people walk around , shoulders slumped, grumpy frowns, edgy attitudes, depression, etc. As soon as the sun came out everyone seemed to lighten up considerably, big smiles, a spring to their step, a lot more laughter. I lasted living there about 18 months, couldn't take so many gray days I then moved to Northern New Mexico where the sun shines 300+ day/year. People here are described as friendly and helpful. There is an all around lightness here, friendly smiles shared. Sunshine is good medicine.

Last nights low was 20º-- a bit colder than predicted. But today's high was a glorious sunny 52º. If only this was the winter norm. This I can live with.
