I was wondering where you were, breezygardener, considering the worst things I was seeing about those storms in Virginia. Stay safe!

Next week it's looking to be hotter than a goat's behind in a pepper patch. 90's for several days.

it says it is 70 outside, but it feels so cold! Have I adapted to the new higher temps? Used to think of 70 as pefect.

I got a little rain tonight - .20", last I looked, when it seems to have stopped. Might be more tomorrow night.

We are finally getting some decent, much-needed rain this morning! Several hours of moderate rainfall is exactly what is going to benefit the lawns and garden. I am headed out there to sit under my onion-drying canopy and enjoy it with another cup of coffee!

1 5/8" of rain overnight. Hubby and I took turns going out and emptying buckets into kiddo's large wading pool as barrels are full. I'm using an old cattle mineral tub to store water in the new garden and have it about half full. Plants have really perked up!

We received another 1-1/4" of rain yesterday evening, & today the heat indices have been in the 100's (109 at the moment). We're also under a "Severe Storm & Tornado Warning" until 10 p.m. tonight. What fun!!

I hope the tornadoes skip your area, breezygardener ! Well, this is normal around here lately - despite the severe TS warning to some areas around, the rain came through very briefly, then the sun, and the total of the rainfall was .02". Somewhere around they probably got 2"! And every day on our 10 day is in the 90s, Wednesday through Saturday in the uppers. So if there are any tomatoes or anything else not heat resistant, it will show now! OTOH, this is when the peppers and okra will feel at home! And maybe some of those odd veggies I have will like it!

No tornadoes, thank God; just another 1-1/2" of rain & another 1/8" overnight. But warm (grazing 90's), grey, & muggy, with more possible thunderstorms this afternoon.

Glad the tornadoes stayed away breezygardener. We ended up with a total of 2" and I manage to fill two 15-gallon plastic drums this morning. Now it's in the 80s and miserably humid.

Yes - we managed to yet again dodge another weather bullet. I hope I don't jinx myself by saying that most of the nasty activity tends to happen 30 to 60 to 90 minutes north of us. We're only about 30-40 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park, & I think our proximity to the mountains somehow defuses the worst of the weather.
In the 26 years we've lived here, only twice did we have close calls with a tornado. One where I was outside & watched a large swirling circle of clouds start right over our property & spin off to the north where the next day we discovered that it had developed into a tornado & touched down only about 5 miles away - shearing off trees & neatly removing the roofs from several houses. The second time one touched down on our adjoining neighbor's property, picked up half her barn & deposited in our field! That was a fun one.
So we continue to feel both lucky yet still cautious at the same time.

Still hot today, but less humidity. Then back to the sauna tomorrow. Rain Saturday, but that could change.
