Crazy here today. Cold and windy, at some point I looked outside the window at work and it was blizzard conditions. Snowing hard then done and sun came out. Little while later, blizzard conditions again. Same cycle all afternoon. Luckily no accumulation. Now it's windy and cold, glad I'm home.

We're crawling out of our April cold snap. High yesterday was 38º with overnight down to 22º. Today's high was 45º and over night prediction low of 23º.' By tomorrow we we should get closer to normal with mid 50s high and low 30s low and then finally back to 60's day and high 30s/l0w 40s night.
We had snow off and on all day yesterday and it was snowing at sunset which put a nice insulation around the fruit tree blossoms. The blossoms looked pretty decent today. We might get some fruit this year after all. Will hose the trees tonight to give the blossoms another blanket for this last deep freeze tonight. Fingers crossed.

lisaann,She turned 4 last week, hard to believe. She says she can't wait to pick green beans again this summer. I can't wait either. By the way, where you been?

The ground is white and it’s snowing like crazy. Mother Nature is so confused.

38 degrees, bright sun, breezy and snowing. Somehow, this is all expected.

It's snowing here, soft, light and dainty snowflakes. One of the Arborvitae is dotted with snowflakes, as if someone shook confectioners sugar on the branches. There's something special about Winter's Last Hurrah, perhaps because of the beauty of snow against spring grass as well as the evergreens.

This morning I noticed that they expanded the frost advisory zone in the tri-state area to include my county. And just now, a lot of the other areas have been changed to freeze warning. No big deal for me, since I only have cold resistant plants out there, and it's not a deep freeze expected. It was 39° when I came down this morning, and it's still in the 40s at almost noon, and only 52° while I was out there to 4:30. This is why I can't believe that people pay any attention to that average last frost date that is in the media every year! It's in the news on tv and radio, and I'm sure in newpapers. As warm as it's been here this year, we're still getting frost on that date, and probably after. I think it's the ones that sell the plants that can get killed by the frost (tomatoes come to mind first, but I'm sure there are non-food plants, as well), then they have to buy them again! I see those things every season for sale way before they should be, and I used to see people planting them (when I delivered mail, and noticed a lot of gardeners out there) uncovered, and re-planting, later on.
That's my rant for the day. I won't be noticing those early sales this year, as I won't be going to HD, Lowe's, and similar garden places. Fortunately, I don't have to buy those kinds of things, and am well stocked for supplies.

pepperhead212 , just FYI, the Michigan shut down notice allows HD and Lowe's to remain open, but prevents them from selling garden equipment or supplies. The Governor apparently doesn't understand how necessary gardening is to many people, especially since producing one's own food cuts down on supply drain at grocery stores.
Looks like we'll have a few more days of winter, and a bit more snow, before the temps crawl back up to the 50's on Sat. I was thinking that the only time we in Michigan have had this kind of winter in April was also a tax week. Maybe Mother Nature is with us, understanding the ordeal of taxes, and sharing the last bit of cold weather she has to express her own challenge.
binnylou, do you have plants out that have to be covered or moved back inside?

SpringRain🕊️, At first, they were not going to allow the garden stuff in those centers here, but somebody convinced them, early on, that it is sort of essential, since much of the gardening is for food. I'm not sure how many of those plants will be in the stores, for those who don't start seeds, but we do know that a lot of new seed starters are draining the seed supplies! Fortunately, most of us weren't affected by this, being seed hoarders!

My state is allowing hardware/garden stores to remain open, but we avoid the big-box places. We thankfully have a local farmer's co-op that has the stuff we need in a more open, less crowded environment. Our decision last winter to build the cold frame and seed starting rig has fortunately turned out to be quite prescient...just like our seed-hoarding!
