binnylou I never got the chance...was a wasted purchase. Been way too busy...I think next year I am cutting back in the vegetable gardening and the flower garden. My limitations has slowed me down. I will probably still do the dahlias from seed...Love my avatar flower.

binnylou , not to worry...I shoulda planned better. And I am not gonna give up on gardening...just tone it down...maybe after I have my knee done it will be better. Right now when I bend over to weed, the knee snaps, crackles and pops!! and the back gets a heating pad to it, even with the wicked temps we have had. Ya gotta love AC!

maybe after I have my knee done it will be better I'm not going to tell you my collection of knee replacement/knee surgery horror stories. However, try this. While holding onto something, lift you lower leg backward as if you were trying to touch your buttocks with your heel. That may help the knee pad (meniscus) go back into place. It works for me. If you are unsteady, you could stand in a doorway with hands against one jamb and the foot raised back against the other jamb. I also sometimes use an electric massager on the groove below the knee cap.

I'm not sure the rest of my body could handle that door jamb exercise but that electric massager might work. I have an appointment with the orthopedic doctor who did my other knee. There is another treatment which I think I might try called Gel-One Hyaluronate. My brother mentioned it to me. I asked the doctor about it last time. He isn't real strong on this maybe effective 50% of the time.
The fluid in the knee joint contains this ingredient but degenerates over time in the early arthritis stages and it is supposed help the joint work efficiently and without friction. And it is considered a natural treatment. So I am thinking about and will make my decision when I am at the office. Or another shot of cortisone.
It will have to be replaced very soon I fear...but putting off as long as possible. Then I will be out of work for 2-3 months. Not looking forward to that.

Update on that shot, Gel-One. It's effectiveness is 15% not 50% according to the PA at the doctor's office. Wanted to try anyway. Wrong move...It has not helped so I am hoping to go back for the cortisone shot...try that for the next 3 months....but looks like surgery is gonna happen in the next few months.
Been doing PT to strengthen the back and quads so maybe it will be easier post...but at 70 yr old I am not expecting a miracle but I certainly would accept one if it came my way!!

lilolpeapicker,do everything to make your body stronger and healthier. Look for ways to make your home friendlier to recovery. Make sure that you have a place for puppy while you are in hospital. Research your options for recovery in a rehab center. Hubby had both knees replaced in 2010...one in March...one in April. He says it was the best thing he's ever done. Life was pretty much on hold for him...just walking to the mailbox would exhaust him from pain. He was faithful to the physical therapy, and he is convinced that the exercising made his surgery a success. And, yes...he can kneel. I cringe when I see him kneeling on the concrete, but he says it doesn't hurt. Hope this goes well for you.

I have one dahlia this year. It's white. Not impressed with it. It was a japanese beetle magnet and the thing has sprawled everywhere. Don't think I will dig it up this Fall.

Mumsey, I put tomato cages around the best of my dahlia plants. Some of them need the bigger cages. It never ends...π©βπΎ

lilolpeapicker, my elderly mother had that Gel-One Hyaluronate therapy done. It is not a one shot cure, and it takes way more that one appointment to see results. She had the stuff injected every 2 weeks for several months, and it worked really well for her. The problem is that it is quite expensive, especially when the product is used more than once.

octave1, I was told 6 - 8 weeks...and I am not willing to wait...Pain is too much and making it difficult to want to walk. Therapy helps sometimes but I think it is becoming inevitable that surgery will be needed soon.

Snowbound, from Swan Island. I think it will get bigger, I'm not convinced that it is fully opened. It's supposed to be a 9 inch bloom, currently about 5 inches across. I hope it makes good tubers. DSCF0259 by BLou, on Flickr
