I weakened. I didn’t plan to expand my Dahlia selection. But…a grower, less than an hour away, opened her tuber sales today. Three named varieties plus three mystery tubers were in my cart before I knew it. No shipping charges, and the farm is close enough for a visit with a family member.

Baker Creek Dahlia Unwins Mix from 2019 is sprouting. Oh, the magic of the heat mat.

Dahlia tubers hiding in the unheated bedroom are starting to sprout. Time to think about dividing tubers…maybe.

binnylou,I've grown the Unwins from Baker Creek seed too and they turned out well. I plan on growing some more this year too. I think last time I got mostly white, lemon yellow and a pink but I only had about 5 plants. A friend gave me seed from Renee's called Blazing Saddles, supposed to be reds, orange and coral so if I can get those work, might be nice for fall bouquets.

Well, heirloomfan, if you get pretty ones, don’t forget to save the tubers.
