I’m not a pie person but pretty sure I would eat that one! centralilrookie. Glad things went well! Prayers for a quick and full recovery!

Good to hear your sweetheart is home with pie to heal her! omg that looks good!! centralilrookie Speaking of pie- has anyone seen the movie "Waitress" with Keri Russell in the lead role? It's a comedic drama that takes place in the deep south. Her character is trapped in a small town, unhappy marriage, becomes pregnant and the supporting characters are such dears. She is a superb pie maker and has a pie for every situation. Despite her unhappy circumstances it is a funny movie with lots of charm and caring.

Today was mostly spent organizing stuff for the sale later in the week. It was a good day to organize as I threw away lots of stuff. The box from kiddo's wagon bought in ahem... 2016... was dismantled and will be heading to the new garden in the morning. I knew our threshold was getting pretty bad out to the deck, but what I didn't expect was for it to come loose on one end. Replacement is around $175 and since I plan to replace the French doors in a few years, I'll repair it myself. A definite blast from the past is my dad's old driver's license from 1985. They were in the drawer of grandma's old dresser but he hadn't lived with her since he and mom moved out when I was a baby.
Spent some time with kiddo and managed to edit a short story I'm entering in a local competition. Problem is that I've never been able to get the laptop I'm currently using to work with the new printer though my laptop with a dead cord did. So I emailed it to mom and will copy and paste it into Word, format and have ready to submit tomorrow evening at lesson training. The training is on the history of a local mental hospital and ironically where grandma retired from, so it holds special interest to me.

Last night we took our 6 year old granddaughter to the McHenry County Fair. We had fun, but HOLY COW, the prices. $7.00 for a lemonade. Crazy, but we had fun.

I mowed some of the lawn just now - that which was in the shade. I'll do the rest when it's in the shade later. It's much less hot and humid than it's supposed to get later in the week, so I figured I'd get it done.

Went for a short 10 block walk this morning. At 0400 it was 81! By 0600 it was 77. Picked beans and cukes, no dew on anything. Puttered around the house then gave myself more sewing machine lessons. Glad we made the decision for me to get a new one after 45 years. Tomorrow it's bean canning and marinara sauce day.

Four more quarts of dills. Planted three huge pots of Kaleidescope Swiss Chard for a little Fall colour. One of the raised beds was empty so I managed to find some beautiful Gai-Lan plants; planted twelve of those. Watered anything that looked thirsty; carrot seeds are germinating under their wet burlap sacks. Processed two batches of pesto and froze them. Watched baseball game while I worked- team lost, booo. Went out and picked four Tromboncino squash, two Zucchini and one Pattypan, also two purple Dragonfly peppers. Will make relish tomorrow. It's supposed to rain tonight after two weeks of over 30 degree temps.

Today got my 2nd Covid booster. Was scheduled for yesterday, but the pharmacy ran out of vaccine so courteously phoned me in the a.m. & rescheduled me for today. Then we did a little light grocery shopping for a few things & picked up a couple of favorite sub sandwiches from "Manhattan Pizza" for a late lunch/early dinner.

Today I’ve been tending to sweetheart’s needs same as I did yesterday which was rough for her. With the nerve block wearing off and the pain pills not really helping it was a long day. Sleep for her was pretty nonexistent yesterday but today she has been able to nap. All in all things are getting better and I’m feeling like I’ll be able to get out to the garden tomorrow. It was a good day…….

I went out later and finished the mowing, once the shade was over that area, then picked some peppers and a few cherry tomatoes. Later, I got 2 shelves of tomatoes, one shelf of eggplants, and 2 shelves of blanched pieces of bitter melon - a first time for me. We'll see how it turns out.

Pulled a few weeds for about a half hour this AM then we made our bi-monthly trip to Albuquerque- about 70 miles away. Didn't need to do any big city errands while there this time, other than hub's appointment, so it was a nice drive down and back. We love road trips and made this feel like one, with sandwiches for lunch, as we drove down, and a thermos of ice herbal tea.

With sweetheart safely confined to the couch I did get outside yesterday. The first thing on my list was to fix the fence between the pasture and garden that Honey, our palomino horse, had pushed her way thru. Picked a couple of bags of cucumbers for some lady that wants to make pickles. Picked tomatoes and peppers along with about 7 gallons of green beans. Hopefully I’ll finish picking the green beans for the last time today and get thru the cucumbers and zucchini. Just noticed in the picture that I forgot to pick the Sprite cherries…….😂

Long walk yesterday morning, quite pleasant at 0600. Picked beans when we got back, and tomatoes. Picked a Trombetta squash. Gotta keep an eye on them and how they grow through the chain link fence. I've been sewing a bit each day, mainly to learn the machine. Tuesday I go to get the Viking Serger that I won in the drawing, been looking at cabinets but that's never happening. The price is outlandish, most of them are more than what the machine cost! And they can go up to 6K! So I think I've come up with a solution, just have to find a table that is 42X24 or so, cut 2 3/4 inches off the bottom of the legs, put the machine on top and get an extension table that fits the machine. I know someone who could make a table if push comes to shove!
Went to visit Mrs J in the afternoon, took her a bouquet of sunflowers, brown-eyed Susans and Love Lies Bleeding. She is always a ray of sunshine!

Picked some of remaining tomatoes, they're winding down earlier this year than I had hoped, dog-gone-it. Peppers still booming and blooming, though. Good dogs. Bowlful of figs, mmm. The elderberry experiment is working so far, almost ripe...
Made a quart of garlic vinegar, red cider vinegar infused with a few (okay, several) slightly mashed garlic cloves --- nice aperitif, tonic, salad dressing, and cough-cold-congestion remedy.
