Today I trimmed those lime trees way back, and the curry tree and bay trees a little more, so everything is ready to come in, though the curry tree is the only one I keep rolling in and out, due to the cool nights. I got over half of the trash can filled with the thorny lime branches. About a half filled trash can, after trimming the 2 Makrut limes, with one plant behind it. 10-18 by pepperhead212, on Flickr Tomorrow, I'll go out front early, and cut out the okra, and zinnia, since they will be in the shade then! Later, the eggplants out back will come out, and anything else that doesn't have anything left on it. Still quite a few green tomatoes, as well as a good number that have started ripening since those last ones I pulled. I might pull everything full sized, just to see what I can pickle; yesterday there were a bunch of undergrown ones, but those cherries can grow fast, and we are supposed to be getting higher than normal temps into next weekend. BTW, here are the cuttings from my epazote, rooting for the hydroponics soon. Only need one plant, for the entire winter, once it gets growing! Just started some basil cuttings yesterday. Very soon, I'll have to fill those up, and and start any seeds I'll be using. Red Epazote, after rooting for a week. Only one of 4 cuttings has nothing, and one much longer. by pepperhead212, on Flickr

Not only frost but a freeze is predicted for Sunday so I spent today harvesting the last of the garden- tomatoes and pumpkins, left the lettuces for now- and cleaned up the beds. Had to dig out some of the tomato root balls and the earth worms are flourishing. Happy soil. Will feed and blanket the beds another day. Also cut back the irises and finished cutting down the bee balm, dead headed the last of the yarrow in the flower bed in front of the veggies. It took 4 hours. Really?! Was there really that much to do? or am I moving more slowly?

A lot of little things got done today. Pulled more Black Eyed Susan out. I think it's easier to pull them out in the fall. Seems like in the spring, I'm just just happy to see green coming up, I can't bear to pull any out. So now thats done, it made space for next years plants. I like to throw some annual seeds in here and there. Now there's space. Filled in some low spots with dirt, put away more tomato cages. I did manage to save 2 Moon Flowers. There were more buds, but the leaves were dead and the vines didn't look so good either. It was sad to tear the vines down, especially now that weather is nice and warm again and there were so many buds left. Next year right? We took a break from moving the tree logs we've been dealing with. Hubby and son worked on making room in the shed for the summer boat equipment. One last boat ride tomorrow down river and the boats come out.

I made more tomato sauce- 4 pints for the freezer. I'll be making sauce or salsa every few days as the picked tomatoes ripen.
Thought I'd go in to town to buy shoes, at some point, but was enjoying hunkering in on this cold blustery day, so stayed home and puttered.

Almost nothing…showered and got dressed. Ran the vacuum a bit and chased Asian lady beetles with the vac. I think the few days prepping/planting garlic caught up with me. It felt just fine to do nothing.

I cut down all the eggplants today - a few very small fruits on a couple of them, but they wouldn't be growing fast at this time of year! I didn't do the front today - I'll do that tomorrow, since Sunday is when the lawn trash goes out, and I can just load the cans up close to where I will leave them. I pulled a couple tomatoes, but some have those green tomatoes on them still.

binnylou , my ripper is much like a chisel plow with only one chisel that I can get 14 inches into the ground. Hopefully within the next week or two I’ll be getting a few loads of cow manure from my neighbor to help improve the soil. There is a chisel plow that I’ve been drooling over but upper management says it’s not in the budget… 😂 Friday I had a date, with my youngest daughter, to go to an orchard/ pumpkin farm. She picked out her prize pumpkins quickly and we had a late breakfast on the way home. Picked up the stepson’s mini excavator and proceeded to get started preparing to put the culvert in the dry creek. Played in the dirt till the last possible moment before getting cleaned up to go to my grandson’s football game. It was a very good day…….

Went to herb conference yesterday and arrived early, which was good as there were still people in the registration line when the first class started. Classes were good and I gained lots of knowledge. Refrained from taking the foraging walk as I figured my feet would be screaming this morning and they were. Purchased a few plants and some hard neck garlic for planting. Followed with a trip to Walmart to pick up stuff for the dinner tomorrow. So I'm basically lounging today watching old horror movies and tending to laundry.

Managed 3.1 miles today, don't know how aside from 1.7 mile walk this morning....puttering most of the day. Picked broccoli shoots, got out a hose and resumed watering the new grass. It's looking good, but slowed down when I stopped watering a few days ago.
Going to Women's Club meeting tomorrow with the possibility of joining, guess I need to do something other than be in my own cocoon all Winter. Neighbor is having a pizza get together Tuesday before the cold weather comes, everyone brings favorite toppings and their own BYOB. Looking forward to that.

Started the culvert installation project Friday afternoon and finished yesterday for access to the back of the property without going through sweetheart’s brother’s property. Borrowed a small excavator from one of sweetheart’s sons and another helped get the 36 inch diameter by 14 feet long pipe in the creek. Back filled the culvert with old broken brick from her brothers foundation project and broke up sidewalk sections that I had hauled home on the forks of our tractor. Does this make me sound like some kind of hoarder? 😂 iIt was a fun and needed project that will serve us well…..

Does this make me sound like some kind of hoarder? Only if you keep piling stuff up with no plan for it's use! Looks like you guys did a great job with the culvert.
