45* and bright sunshine got me outside doing some garden clean up. I left some of the JoePye Weed stalks up, but it was time for them to come down. Still have some parsley, bok choy, lettuce looking good under a hoop tunnel. Opened it up to let some sun in. Came in and wrapped some Christmas gifts, but got burned out on that. I still have time. Made the final grocery list and will be out the door, hopefully, at 8am. It's so nice out, I'm going to grill hamburgers for dinner.

Yesterday started off with me meeting a couple of buddies that I worked with, in high school, 50 years ago. Reminiscing and catching up about people and the town we grew up in was well worth the time. Ruby seems to have a UTI infection, or something, so sweetheart got here into the vets to have it checked out. She had to leave her there for a couple of hours and then came home with instructions of no water or food for twenty four hours. Sweetheart’s 2 sons made time in their schedules to start installing the boiler and such for the hot water heat in the garage floor. When the garage addition was built on they had the foresight to install the tubing needed at that time.
Today the boys are back to install the gas piping required and a hose spigot in the garage. Ruby has had nothing to eat or drink but seems to be getting back to her normal puppy self. A limited amount of boiled chicken and rice are on the menu for the next couple of days. Everything is complete for the garage heat except for the pumping in of the water/antifreeze mixture in the pipes and one the boys will be back tomorrow morning to do that. Another thing off our bucket list…..

centralilrookie, so sorry about Josie. When you mentioned Ruby I had to go back and see what happened. Sounds like Ruby has found a loving home.

Sinus headache has finally let up and currently waiting to see if kiddo will be virtual today as her aide is sick too. So much I'd planned to do this week but as a late friend of mine used to say, it is what it is. Christmas will be pretty lackluster this year but will do what I can to make it special for kiddo. Thankfully she's not a materialistic kid and will be thrilled with her dolls and art supplies. I picked up a gift for hubby and told him it can be for both of us as things are pretty tight right now. One gift to make for Mom and unfortunately I haven't even started it yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Today, I got my most recent Covid 19 Moderna shot, around 4:15 pm. The only thing that may have done to me, was give me a slight headache - something I rarely get, but it may have been unrelated. Before that, since I was out in that area early, I went over to lidl - it was more crowded than when I go there, when they open (when I usually go to most of the stores), but not that bad, like most stores I drive by these days! I got a few things, but one of the deals - the butter, buy 2, get one free - isn't what it was when I got it, as the butter was $3.45 this time (2.30 after the discount), not $2.26, like last time. I texted a friend, who was thinking of stocking up on it, and she told me not to get any for them, and I still have a bunch I didn't use with cookies. lol Maybe it'll get even lower after the holidays.
The last few nights, after I finished the cookies and cleaning up the kitchen, I went through my seeds, and threw out any seeds I knew were bad, either the germination, or the whatever the variety was like, some of them spitters, or some that did not grow well at all - things I would not give to anyone, unless I didn't like them! All the varieties that I might grow again, of tomatoes and peppers, went in one bag of each of those, and everything I would give to someone, but not grow again, would go in a trade bag, and the ones I will be growing (so far - still early) of the tomatoes and peppers, are marked "24". Everything else is just in the old bags. The only ones I haven't gotten to yet are the beans and peas. I'll do that tomorrow. I got the idea to do this when I got my first seed order a few days ago, from Tim's Tomatoes, on Etsy.

Thinking about making date pinwheel cookies today. As kids we would help Aunt Mary make them, she made it fun! At least they are a little bit healthy, dates and all........ Plugging away at hand quilting. Took a break and went to junk shop. Got another tote for fruit jar storage. Found a full size shower curtain for upstairs shower, which I will have to shorten the length and width.
Weekend/Christmas plans are unfolding, some light viewing and a trip to Dad's Sunday. We are determined to grill in spite of the predicted 70% rain chances! The weather guys are hinting at 1-2".

Kiddo ended up at home yesterday and I needed to take a dreaded trip to town and decided that one trip would have to do. Picked up a gift for my dad and mother-in-law and declared Christmas shopping finished! Thankfully my niece let us know that her boyfriend's daughter would be there as well and I always pick up extra art supplies at the back-to-school sales, so pretty well covered there. On the way I dropped off Christmas goodies for kiddo's classmates and made sure the other little girl with special needs got first pick of the crocheted toboggans mom made. She was delighted and surprisingly so were the other kids as nearly all of them were wearing them when I left.
Today I'll begin working on a gift for mom, which in reality means I'll probably spend 4-5 hours picking out the right fabrics and then another 2-3 hours of being intimidated by the pattern at which point I'll declare that I will start first thing the next morning.

Was out of the house at 8:15. Hit Meijer, Aldi, The Dollar Store, local supermarket that has a wonderful deli, and Sams Club. Home at 11 and started my once a year labor of love. Golabki, stuffed cabbage. As I was making them I was thinking of all the years my mom made them and how much we all looked forward to them. Now only my sisters and I eat them. I think clean up is more work than making the golabki.

Wide awake at 2:30 this morning. Fell asleep watching TV at 7:30 last night. So I got up, showered, started laundry. Then got to vacuuming, mostly done by 0700. Ate breakfast, thinking about a project DH and I were talking about a couple months ago. Our bed is a waterbed frame, solid oak and pricey in it's day. Still looks new after 34 years. We wanted to make a riser to fit inside the waterbed frame to raise the mattress. Years ago we got rid of the water mattress and put in a California King mattress. A couple years ago we replaced that with a Nectar one. Love it. So I piddled around taking measurements and drawing it out. Went to lumber yard in small town 9 miles away and got all the supplies for it. They do free cuts so had them cut the plywood pieces to fit and in a way they would fit in the SUV. Worked great. A Christmas project for me and DS. Looks easy enough, on paper anyway. The guy at the lumber yard thought it looked good.
Heading for walk next, then home to make those pinwheel date cookies, maybe, if I have any steam left.

Good news is that I have a few extra days to work on mom's gift and wrap presents. Bad news is that we have COVID and hubby has a touch of pneumonia too. He asked if I still had some home tests this morning and after the positive reading I insisted he call the doctor and tell them he was having breathing issues. They told him to come immediately and ended up prescribing a Covid medication which we had to go to the neighboring county to get. I self-tested and am positive too. Suspect kiddo was the first to get it and am guessing it's the illness running through the school lately along with the stomach bug. On quarantine until Wednesday.

Was out of the house by 9 a.m. (should have been earlier). Hit our local Martin's & picked up a bunch of frozen Stouffer's lasagnas, ziti, & enchilada trays to take to the food pantry; brought them a nice hefty check as well. Then went to the bank & to Lidl, where we picked up the very few things I needed to complete our Xmas dinner.
Came home & straightened up the kitchen enough to enable me to bake up a loaf of Cranberry/Orange/Walnut Bread (which is cooling now). Later on I'll slice it & package it up with my Brandy/Rum Fruitcake cookies in individual Xmas bags for my hay farmer gang that Mr. Breezy will bring with him tomorrow when he goes for our weekly hay pick-up.
I'm taking a little breather before starting our dinner tonight, then will proceed to the baked-goods packaging. No rest for the holiday-weary.

emmsmommy, hope you're all feeling better. When hubby tested positive before Thanksgiving, he started on the Paxlovid right away. It really helped shorten his symptoms.
