Onion seeds planted! Also leeks, geraniums, lemongrass, leftover rhubarb seed from last year and dandelions in pink and white. Still have some alpine strawberry seed in the freezer and may plant them as well. Missed quilt class last week and need to get caught up for tomorrow. Also committed to a monthly block that is due tomorrow as well, so need to finish that today too. My seed needs are few but I'm hoping to go to Dollar Tree tomorrow in hopes that their seed displays are out. I need another pack of California Wonder pepper and hoping to find a few perennial flower seeds too. I'm also intrigued by their stacking planters. They seem a bit flimsy when compared to the ones I bought at the thrift store last year but for $1.25 each, I think I'll pick up 10 or so. Maybe the slugs will leave my lettuce alone if I grow it vertically.

Got all of the two and three foot tall tomatoes in 6” pots out of my laundry room and into 5 gallon pots in the greenhouse, about two dozen of them so they take up most of the greenhouse. My greenhouse heater arrived, which I may need to run later this week

Spent much of the day in the kitchen and at the smoker preparing some football party treats. The time, work and cleanup required to make these treats has dampened my desire to make them on a regular basis. I’m happy that the stepson and his wife enjoyed them and ready to watch the Chief’s play in two weeks. Now to get the horse stalls cleaned and a few other things put in order before my hand surgery tomorrow. It was a very good day…..

centralilrookie, hoping for a good result with your surgery. Get a good night’s sleep…your surgeon too. You’ll be cleaning out the horse stalls before you know it.

THANK YOU ALL for the good thoughts and vibes. We’ll be checking in at 6:45 so with any luck we should be home by noon. Sweetheart had the boys today but I did get the horse stalls cleaned out. Tonight we went down to Lincoln to watch my grandson’s 7th grade basketball team win their regional game. It was a good day and I’m looking forward to tomorrow…..

Spent a few hours yesterday and last night getting pieces cut for quilt class today only to realize when the call came saying school would be delayed two hours, that I'd have to miss it. Within an hour school was cancelled and we have a few inches of snow over ice. Quilt class is automatically cancelled when school is so at least I won't be another week behind. Peering at my newly planted seeds last night and what did I see? Geranium sprouts in less than 24 hours! This is my second year growing the multi bloom mix from Pinetree and although a bit pricey, I've had great success with them. So the town trip is postponed until tomorrow and I'm hoping someone can cover library duty at school as I have paperwork to turn in and could only commit to a half day at most. Told hubby we're only getting the necessities as I'm not fond of the first of the month crowds. One of kiddo's substitute aides has been begging us to come visit for a few months and we've had to put it off several times due to one or the other of us being sick. I've only met her once and really liked her and she's commented several times that if the position came up for bid again she planned to apply. So it's a visit for kiddo and a bit of an investigative mission for hubby and I and planning to do that Saturday. Big shopping trip will take place afterwards. I received an invitation to participate in a seed trial last year and did so. I received an invitation email from what I assumed was the same trial and confirmed my participation only to realize a few days later that it was a totally different trial, so now I'm participating in two this year and one requires a select number of seeds to be returned after harvest as well as data. So glad I'm starting this season out much better organized.

Not much going on around here, just dang cold!!!! And keeping up with poop patrol. I'm sure there's some under the snow. . Shoveled stone path behind the garage. Hydroponic lettuce is really taking off now, I'll be eating it in a few days! Onions and scallions look great. Looked out at the bird feeder and saw a Pileated Woodpecker at the suet. There was a Downy waiting his turn! Went to get the mail and the big guy was on top of the utility pole singing away, if you could call it that.

Yesterday covered a bed with hay. Was going to do another today, but it was drizzling snow (not sure what you call it when the snow looks like whiteflies flitting around and none of it sticks). Still have two large and one medium bed to go, then a smaller bed, two edge of the garden flower beds and a run around the fence to add to where cucumbers and beans grow.

Our day was scheduled to start early for a 6:45 arrival time for my surgery but for some reason my wheels were turning and I sat awake in my chair since 2:30 am. Everything went well and we were home by 11:00. With sweetheart dotting over me and my needs I took a 4hr nap. As expected I have some tingling in my hand but no real pain or sickness.
Again THANK YOU ALL for your concern and positive thoughts!! It’s pretty amazing the friendships that can be developed thru technology with people that we probably wouldn’t recognize if we passed each other on the street.😂 Life is good and I am truly blessed……
