You might want to dry some extra tomatoes I've got a bird bath on the opposite side of the garden but I'll try an additional source of water for them. I don't know why I didn't think of dehydrating them as I do have a dehydrator for making biltong. Thank you for the reminder.

This year’s holiday season will be one that we’ll always remember. We both had Covid at Thanksgiving, influenza cancelled each our planned get togethers with our families and mom’s traditional Christmas is being rescheduled as mom is down with some virus. We did get around and dropped off gifts to everyone and even got to see the now 3 month old grandson. I’m looking forward to learning to cook on the Blackstone griddle that sweetheart and my girls got for me.

After my appt. this morning, I went back to lidl - last day on their weekly ads, and I got 6 more lbs of the butter, @$2/lb. They also had LOL butter @$5.98...probably more at local supermarkets! I'll put those in vacuum sealed bags, in the freezer, and might have some next season - cookies are usually the only thing I use that much for. They also had chocolate chips for just $1.49, both semi-sweet and dark. I only got 2 each of those, since I still had one of each left, but I wanted to re-stock.

Went to dad’s today and painted the new basement bathroom. Ugh. Hate painting new drywall. It sucks up paint like a sponge. Got it done,2 coats in 6 hrs. Had lunch there. I brought my veggie soup and brother had gotten a free smoked turkey from the locker he takes deer to for processing. They were giving them away to their loyal customers for Christmas. Had baked potatoes too. Came home with 2 deer steaks for DH and some smoked turkey. And more sweet potatoes.
I’m pooped. My feet are not happy. Ladders are their enemy. And I had decent shoes on. I’ll make them happy with epsom salt soak tonight.

It got to 50º today so I took advantage of it and did two things... hand watered most of the yard and while the hose ran on things that needed a little more time, I started cleaning up some perennials. Tomorrow it drops at least 12-15º with a light rain or snow showers possible. I figure watering things could bring on enough rain to mean something. It's my public service for the community ;)

Checked my seed stash. Don't really need anything. Some are a bit old, but I'm not growing 50 plants of anything, so low germination rates are acceptable. Can't remember the last year I didn't order anything.
Y'all are gonna have to take up the slack and keep the seed companies in business. I know I can count on you. ;)

I wanted to share this picture, it shows the beauty within the disaster. They referred to it as "The mountain ranges of Chippewa Street" due to the piled-up snow, Chippewa St. is a nightclub district in Buffalo.

So kiddo's nose began to run on Monday and by midnight I was feeling pretty crappy. Sent hubby to town by himself on Tuesday and of all things to forget, he forgot toilet paper. Thankfully we just seem to have colds and no diarrhea. Head ached so much that I didn't sleep much and ended up listening to documentaries on the Jonestown Flood of 1889 and ended with a few old horror movies that played until morning. Just realized that I'll likely have to make a trip to town tomorrow as I remembered I have some paperwork that needs submitted before the end of the year and I think the office will be closed Friday. My efforts to submit it online haven't been successful. ??? Dad's birthday is next week and we'll likely celebrate on the first if we have improved. Thought about making him a turn of fudge but it will be agonizing to not be able to taste it.

This morning we were up early as sweetheart needed to be on her way to pick up her youngest two grandsons for the day. Not expecting them to return right away I called one of her boys to meet him for breakfast. Long story short we ended up with 3 adults and 4 kids out for breakfast. Surprisingly everything went smoothly and we all had a good time. With sweetheart occupied with the boys and the temps in the low 40’s I got the tractor out and cleaned driveway. Sweetheart was gifted an antique cabinet from a lifelong friends mom who recently passed so picking it up was high on her list for me to do. While waiting for my oldest grandson, to help with the cabinet pickup, I put together the Blackstone griddle that sweetheart and my girls got me for Christmas. With the cabinet in place, the griddle ready to fire up and one of the youngest grandsons spending the night we’ve had a wonderful day……

It was a rainy day so we thoroughly deep cleaned the house today. Hadn't done that since before Thanksgiving and tons of daddy long legs had moved in. Ay the cobwebs. The two of us took 5 hours each to get it done. We always treat ourselves to a restaurant meal after cleaning- don't want to mess up the sparkling stove just yet! The village restaurant has a wide variety of great food and it's only 4/10 mile away). Veggie tamales with red chile for me; chicken enchiladas with red, for my honey. Made a mixed greens salad to go with.

Back in the days when I was young, I used to be jealous of all the countries that had a white christmas & we never had one here in South Africa. After seeing all this, now I'm actually glad we have never had a white christmass. ha! I was born and raised in Southern California (Los Angeles) and we never got snow. And I cant say I was jealous! I'd see the Christmas cards with snow scenes and think how strange it was. One year the public thermometer showed a daytime reading of 32ºF and we had to take a photograph of it- it was such a highly unusual extreme for us! Now that I know more, I wonder what the overnight low was that time!! Never crossed my young mind to think it would go even lower.

desertwoman,I used to look at pictures of Christmas in warm climates and wonder the same thing. How would Christmas feel in a warm climate? We don't always have a white Christmas here, but it's usually cold.

Now that the chaos of Christmas is over, though some gifts need delivering, I can spend time checking my seeds and catalogs to get started on the new season and changes I plan on making.
Was going to go to daughters but my dog has a lot of eye drainage and don't have an appointment until 5 tonight. Of course they cannot give ya the medicine without an appointment but drainage is bad today. She needs the steroid eye drops.
