My new rose bush with it's first bloom after transplanting (and weeks of neglect after purchase!) Ready for close up, Mr. Demille..... loving this little area right now - combo of some veggies and my sweet peas..... this is where the purchased pepper plants went...

I love that pink rose. And the pink petunias I saw in another photo.

Beautiful rose...does it have a good fragrance? I'd love to try roses, but right now, can't provide the care they would need.

welp - this one in thriving on a lot of neglect, binnylou....but we have had consistent rain...... I don't think roses are too fussy, I don't think these ones are super smelly - but I will take a sniff tomorrow and report back..

You should give them a go, binny.
I agree- roses really aren't too fussy. I prune them in the spring ( dead wood and crossing branches, mostly), feed them compost and water them twice a week. Dead head the spent flowers and stop deadheading or cutting flowers for the house first of October. That's it.
