so - I did some pole beans that are italian green bean. I planted them around a 3-4' tomato cage. They seem to have advanced very quickly in the recent heat, and climbed a few feet in a few days and are at the top - with nary a hint of a blossom.
Can they just cascade down now, or shout I try to offer additional upward support?

I grow Kentucky Wonder pole beans, they are flailing all over the top. They will cascade down which is OK, there's nowhere else for them to go! It just means more tedious poking around to pick them. Mine will hop over to the pea fence and I will let them once the peas are gone. The fence I have mine on is a little over 5 feet tall.

All of the trellises in my garden are 7 feet high by 4 feet wide. The pole beans just keep growing and growing. They have long eclipsed the 7 foot height and are cascading down on each side now, maybe 3-4 feet. It's ridiculous. I keep having to cut the pole bean vines back from trying to share the cucumber trellis.

I have gotten use to lopping off the tops of the bean plants as more will grow lower with new flowers. Mumsey, you are still getting peas? Isn't it getting late for them? I will be planting a fall crop soon.

Yup- cascading is what to expect. All my beans have about 4-5 feet to climb. (I have one small section that is about 3ft) I wouldn't want them any taller as it would be difficult to reach to harvest. Like Mumsey said, you just have to poke deeper to find hidden pods.
