Hi Folks, just a typical question about corn.
Generally, I would ask this kind of question in the winter when we're all bored out of our skulls and getting excited over seed catalogs. It has been on my mind lately and I'm afraid I'll get distracted by something shiny by then.
I want to try growing sweet and flour corn next year. The only corns I've ever grown are hybrid sweets and dent corn.
Has anybody grown any of these?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

I grow organic yellow dent corn on a commercial scale, primarily to be sold as poultry feed. I pick up the ears that get missed by the harvesting machinery and use that for cornmeal and flour. Corn is corn as far as I am concerned. Just make sure to stagger planting or maturity so you don't get cross pollination between the two types.

Be sure to plant them far away from each other. Or space the planting times so they are not in polenation mode at the same time. Unfortunately the pollen that falls on the silks tends to influence the taste, flavor, texture of the kernels of the ear, and if you save seed, then you can really get some wild crosses.
