So what to put there. Wonder if potatoes would grow if planted now. I have russets in the basement sprouting. I have enough lettuce. Too late for radishes. Plenty of volunteer tomatoes, some pretty large, I could put a couple there.
Hate those empty spaces this early in the season. Or it could become my second compost area.

Extra planting space! Nice!
Also wish I had more space...would like to plant second crop of string beans...just no room...

Maybe zukes! That's what I will do!

For the past couple of years I have planted a pumpkin plant at the end of the garlic bed. As I harvest the garlic, the pumpkin starts to crawl over the empty space. It' been a great set up.

My second string short season crops are usually beans, zucchini, beets, or carrots.

Last year I planted pumpkins in the garlic bed; this year I planted zucchini (which is just coming up now). I had planted some late lettuce crops in one section but it is just too darned hot for them.

Planted the zuke seed last night. Too hot here for lettuce also.
