I planted italian grean beans - pole type, royalty purple pod bush greenbean, and tendergreen bush greenbean.
I've got about 10 of the italian types, 4 of the purple, and narry a one of the tendergreen. humf!
started them all the same time, same way, same bed.....
maybe the pack is a dud?
How long to wait?

Doesn't it say on package how long to maturity?

Am I reading this right? Do you mean sprouting out of the earth ?
How long have the other beans been up? If just a few days, give them time. If it's been a couple of weeks, well, I 'd still probably give them a bit longer. Different beans, different habits?

Generally, beans are 7-10 days to germinate for me. Probably depends on weather, water, and the type of beans. I usually have very good germination rates on beans, too.

The seeds aren't planted that deep so I would probably gently take my finger and probe around to see if anything is germinating. I did this with my peas earlier this year and discovered that they were just getting started. I re-planted the one I disturbed and it grew just fine. The previous year I did this too and discovered that the seeds were gone, either rotted or eaten, so I replanted right away.

Some green beans here have sprouted in less than a week...others longer... If they haven't popped up beyond 10 days, I would do as rexx said...poke around gently... If nothing...then I replant.
In another thread here, it was mentioned about planting bean seeds with the eye facing down... Which when I thought about it, that made a great deal of sense...why haven't I done that before?... So this year I conscientiously planted every bean that way... Took only slightly longer...but this year I had fast and great germination... Maybe that was a coincidence...don't know...
Last year I had terrible germination...had to plant 4 times... I think it may have been the seed...I bought from somewhere I had not bought before...who knows...
Over at my boyfriends garden, I planted wax beans this year...all eyes facing down... The germination rate there was poor with them... But then his soil is not as well amended as mine... It's quite 'clayey'... I'm replanting there.

it was mentioned about planting been seeds with the eye facing down... I did the same thing too this year and had almost 100% germination on all of my beans. Bean seeds are big and it only took a few more minutes to do it this way. In case anyone is wondering, the root emerges from the eye so if it faces down, the root does not have to curl over the top of the seed to start growing downward.

I usually plant bean seeds so the eye is to the side. I don't know why but it goes into the ground most easily I guess.
