I do love knowing exactly what's in my soil though. I do too and I know that I do this more often than is necessary but I send a soil sample to Penn State's Ag Lab every year for testing. It's only $9 plus an additional $5 for testing the organic mater content but I really enjoy seeing the numbers. I feel like it's a small price to pay for my hobby.

heck yeah! I plan on getting my raised bed soil tested after next years harvest and every other year after that. With all the leaves, coffee grounds, and high chiten worm castings I put in there I'm sure it will have an abundance of nutrients and minerals.
