I realize it's an unusual question, but does anyone know if a dog will eat a tomato off of a plant? Just wondering! lol

Had a dog once who would pick her own beans! Being a basset hound when I couldn't find her, that's where she was!
I'm sure once Princess figures out where her peas, beans and carrots come from she will do the same. Also had a dog who would eat raw beets. That was a gruesome sight!

I realize it's an unusual question, but does anyone know if a dog will eat a tomato off of a plant? Just wondering! lol did they see you do it? I was harveting raspberries a few years back, never got enough to bring into the house, just an outdoor snack. I tossed one to the pup. then I meandered down looking for more....I turn around, and he has a branch to the ground with his paw, helping himself.

All things that eat, only eat the biggest, ripest, tastiest, most well formed tomatoes off the plants.

My dalmatian would pick and eat a tomato on occasion. Two years ago, there was a squirrel in the yard which delighted in daily picking the most beautiful ripe tomato, eating half of it and leaving the rest sitting on the bench. Not sure if he was being obnoxious or just politely sharing with us.

Many years ago, before I fenced it in, my Black Lab, Emma, used to 'help' me in the garden. She, like Mumsey's Bassett, loved the green beans and would just go help herself...
The funniest though was her tomato picking... I would watch her bury her head in the thick foliage...be rooting around...then the whole staked plant would have this semi violent 'shake'... And out she would appear with a tomato sticking out of her mouth...with her 'happy ears' on...looking like she'd picked a tennis ball!
She seemed to prefer the green ones!! Good silly doggie!

No dog issues, but when my son was 5. He and his friend took 1 bite out of every tomato and threw it on the ground. When I asked them why they had done that, they said the APPLES didn't taste good.
