On Monday I removed the frc from the zucchini and yellow squash and cukes...on Wednesday I saw a svb flying around by the time I realized what it was, it had landed on a squash plant...so I direct seeded more squash plants in another area of the garden. It seems as tho the numbers of grasshoppers isn't increasing...so that's a good thing. i found my first jap beetle on the grape vine..first in years! the deer are pulling the grapevine thru the fence slats! Little buggers! In a 6' tall section!

I picked my first zuke tonight but I know that I should plant more soon. I am sure that the SVB's are here too. I just have not seen them yet.
I am finding Jap Beetles on the asparagus though and they don't usually arrive until July 4.

Floating row cover.
I expect grasshopper numbers to be down this year. The are fewer in rainy years, they prefer dry weather.
