Ugh...during last nights rainstorm..the winds pulled up the edges..so I'm sure that the cabbage moths got inside...

Not necessarily, I don't think that cabbage moths fly at night. I use bricks to hold down my cover. They work really well and can be easily stacked for the winter.

Dear wife picked up some sheer drapes at the Good Will thrift store. That's been working for us. 2x2's keep the edges down.

What width tulle do you use, BR? I found 54" width....is that enough to go over cabbage and cauliflower?

picked up some sheer drapes at the Good Will thrift store I did that too and they are great for frost protection in the Fall. What width tulle do you use, BR? I found 54" width....is that enough to go over cabbie and cauliflower? That will work. I can't remember if mine was 54" or 56" but I bought the widest stuff they had. You do need something to keep it up off of the plants though or the moths can still land on them. I use some curved over wire fencing but many people use hoops. anything that will keep it off the plants will work though.

Harvested the first cabbage - this is a different variety than I normally grow. Have always done Copenhagen and tried Farao this year to get smaller heads. Don't really like it - very peppery. But even a bad cabbage is better than no cabbage!!!

"is that really a kind of ant? I thought is was a school yard thing?"
Giggling....
Around these parts the term is used to refer to any of the small ants that like to invade our houses. I had some setting up housekeeping in a crack in the concrete of the back patio. I poured a bit of vinegar into the crack. Next day, no ants.
